Talk about a big kids playground lol. It's set in the old Victorian Railways yards at Alexandra, and uses the old Alexandra Railway Station. Great piece of history. If you're mechanically minded, love playing around with engines and machinery, have a love of restoration and keeping history alive, then join, you'll love this place. Then there's the steam train, another beautiful piece of history. The kids will love it here, young and old. It's a good day out.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for train-enthusiast families and kids aged 4 and up who love hands-on history. The volunteer-run setting is genuinely charming β€” passionate staff share knowledge freely and the machinery is accessible for close-up exploration. Dogs travel on the train too, making it a winner for pet-owning families.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

⏰Dogs are welcome throughout the site and on the train rides
🎟️Public toilets are on site
πŸš—The train does a loop around the yard β€” a short and memorable ride for young children

β€œGreat look back into time. Old machinery and steam engines. There's an old train that still operates for $10 adults and $5 for kids. It's a small fee to keep this piece of history still operating. It's run by volunteers.”

β€œThe railway and museum weren't open when we were there but it was still a lovely little stop of to have a casual wander around ,enjoy the displays and take a step back in time. Public toilets there were a bonus.”

β€œGreat spot for an hour or 2. Dog friendly even on the train. Which only goes around the yard in a circle but still great for kids.”
