1 / 2Anakie - Fairy Park
📍 Anakie, VIC
Australia's first theme park featuring detailed, interactive fairy tale displays set across hilly terrain. Best for kids aged 4+ who engage with Brothers Grimm stories. Expect 60–90 minutes of walking on steep paths.
Went in with fairly modest expectations and walked out pleasantly surprised — Fairy Park turned out to be such a satisfying visit for both kids and adults. The fairy tale displays are much better made and better maintained than I expected. The scenes are detailed, sturdy, and clearly cared for — not faded or neglected. Each area feels intentional, and you can tell there’s ongoing love put into keeping the park in good shape. What really stood out was the interactive storytelling. The way the stories are set up genuinely engages kids — they’re not just walking past displays, they’re listening, pressing buttons, reacting, and asking questions. It held their attention far longer than we anticipated, and they were completely absorbed. Staff were friendly, patient, and welcoming, especially with children. just calm, positive energy that makes the whole place feel relaxed and family-friendly. We grabbed snacks and coffee on site and were happy to find everything simple and reasonably priced. The coffee was surprisingly good — very welcome for parents — and the snacks were perfect for a mid-visit break. Most importantly: the kids had an absolute blast. Lots of laughter, curiosity, and imaginative play. We easily spent more time there than planned. If you’re debating whether Fairy Park is “worth the drive,” I’d say yes — especially if you enjoy places that focus on storytelling, imagination, and a slower, more hands-on kind of fun. A lovely, unexpectedly enjoyable day out. Plus the scenery route for a nice drive.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 4–10 who enjoy interactive storytelling and walking adventures. Adults consistently report being as engaged as the kids. The hilly layout means this is a physically active visit — bring water and wear comfortable shoes. Not accessible for prams or mobility aids.

“Fairy Park in Anakie is one of those rare places that feels like stepping straight back into your childhood. As Australia’s oldest and first theme park, it has such a special charm — the classic fairy-tale characters are still there, alongside some newer additions, and so much of it feels beautifully untouched. It’s quirky, nostalgic and full of memories. Visiting now with our kids felt incredibly special, especially remembering coming here ourselves when we were little. There’s something really lovely about a place that hasn’t been over-modernised and still keeps its original magic. That said, it’s important to know that the park isn’t very wheelchair friendly, with lots of uneven paths and steps, so accessibility can be a challenge. Also make sure you bring cash just in case — phone reception can be patchy and EFTPOS isn’t always reliable. Overall, Fairy Park is a truly unique slice of Australian family history and a wonderful day out if you love old-school theme parks, fairy tales and a bit of nostalgic magic. 🧚♂️✨”

“A truly magical experience for both kids and adults. We visited Fairy Park with our two girls and absolutely loved it. Adults who grew up with Brothers Grimm fairytales will feel the nostalgia, while children are delighted by the interactive buttons, fairytale scenes and dolls. What stood out most was how calm and unhurried everything felt, time seemed to stand still. The walk up to the fortress, the magical sound effects in the woods, and the Camelot playground at the end made it feel like stepping into another world. Clean, easy parking, and a beautiful sunny visit just before the season ended. A nostalgic wonderland that will always have a special place in our hearts. We’ll be back!”
