BAIRNSLEY Highland Cattle
π Gisborne, VIC
Guided farm experiences near Gisborne including Highland cattle tours, a picnic platter with views, and optional paint-and-sip sessions with a local artist. Small groups get personal attention from hosts Bree and Glen.
I organised the Pat, Paint and Pinot experience as a surprise for my partner and it couldnβt of been any better! Bree and Glen were amazing hosts with their knowledge, kindness and hospitality. And the local Artist Amber was very helpful and made it so easy to create a masterpiece even as someone who isnβt artistic at all I surprised myself with the artwork I did. The wine and cheese platters served were delicious and were constantly topped up when needed. If you or someone you know loves cows I could not recommend this experience more, perfect gift for a birthday or anniversary or even just as a cute day date idea as you get up close and personal with the cows that you literally can hug them.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 5 and up who love animals and want a relaxed, unhurried farm experience. Kids get hands-on time with the Highland cattle and can pat the animals up close. The picnic platter and farm-dog encounter round out the visit. Pairs naturally with a Gisborne town visit.

βBree and Glen were amazing hosts who showed us a great time with the highland cows and giving us an amazing experience. Amber, the artist who ran the paint and sip was also incredibly helpful and kind. The entirity from start to finish was more than we had expected and we can not recommend this enough. Glen was also very generous with the wine and we loved that the wine was from a business who donates 50% of their profits back to animal care.β

βVisited Bairnsley Highlands as a birthday gift for my wife and had a perfect morning. We were taken around the property to visit the animals including the Highland cows, calves, and the lovely calm bull. The platter of cheese, cold meats, and fruit was delicious while we enjoyed gorgeous scenery. Bree and Glen were very welcoming and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend!β

Visitors go up close with the cattle, calves, and the resident bull, then settle in for a cheese, cold meat, and fruit platter against sweeping rural views.
