π Brighton, TAS
Conservation wildlife sanctuary in Brighton offering hands-on kangaroo feeding, Tasmanian devil encounters, and guided tours multiple times daily. Supports Tasmania's largest 24/7 wildlife rescue service. Night tours available for nocturnal species.
Our night tour at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary was one of the highlights of time in Hobart! Our guide Mia was amazing β super friendly, very informative, and she made the whole experience incredibly fun. She explained everything in a very engaging way, and we learned so much about Australian wildlife and the important rescue work the sanctuary does. One of the best parts was being able to feed the kangaroos, which was such a special experience. During the night tour we also had the chance to see many animals that are more active at night and learn fascinating facts about them. The tour was fun, educational, and truly unique. Being in the sanctuary at night makes the experience even more special. It is absolutely worth every euro. Bravo, Mia! π Thank you for such a wonderful and unforgettable experience! π¦β¨
π Family Action Verdict
Best for animal-loving families across all ages β toddlers through grandparents are engaged by the kangaroo feeding and keeper talks. The conservation mission gives school-age children meaningful context beyond a standard zoo visit. Night tours suit older children and teens who want a more immersive experience with nocturnal species.

βWonderful sanctuary. Definitely go and support their good work. Free tours multiple times a day with great insight into the animals and what you can do to help. Fascinating being able to look into their wildlife hospital - we saw a bird getting some kind of medical checkup. Really sad that Tasmania is the roadkill capital of Australia and that's why so many animals end up in sanctuaries like this and many are unable to be released back into the wild after their experience. Great to know that some are though and the keepers seem so genuinely invested in the animals' wellbeing. The kangaroos roam relatively freely and they provide free roo food so you get the opportunity to hand feed them and get right up close!β

βWe visited Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary to do their Feeding Frenzy experience. We were looked after and guided by Mia, who made the experience a delight! It was so lovely to get a more up-close encounter with their resident creatures and to learn more about their practices and values. Definitely worth the visit if youβre in and around Hobart - Visits contribute to supporting their care for so many of the wildlife in Tasmania as a whole. They operate the largest 24/7 Wildlife Rescue Service in Tasmania! Mia, thank you for the tour and for your genuine and warm disposition. You really made the experience great!β

βWhat a wonderful place. They have rescued so many animals and taken care of them so well. After 3 weeks in Tassie, I finally got to see Kangaroos and a Tasmanian Devil! And Fred a 95 year old Cockatoo! To be able to walk among the many 'rooster and feed them from my hand was a highlight! A must visit for all! Please do and slap support this beautiful mission.β
