Visited May 2024 This is a fantastic trail riding outfit outside of Mansfield, Victoria. The people, the horses, and then the countryside and location. The food, the company, I could wax lyrical for days. I had the time of my life, along with a family group from South Australia (three generations of horse girls, riding together: beautiful) and two young women from QLD, and me a solo rider who’d decided to still go when my own daughter was unable to come. Everyone was warm and welcoming. Shelly the owner (and Paul her husband) put their horses first, and the trail leaders also have the horses’ well-being front of mind, along with the safety of riders. We were all well-matched to our horses. Everyone had some riding experience, but the staff are very supportive and keep a close eye on everyone to make sure they are enjoying. The horses are great, I fell in love with my mare a solid and foot-sure Quarter horse with the sweetest nature but also some go in her for the runs. I loved how we were able to spend time with the horses, brushing, helping get them ready and post-ride care. I literally wept saying goodbye and on the third day had a real moment thinking: this is what I need more of in my life. The landscape is STUNNING and varied. The accommodation basic but totally adequate. The three-day ride we didn’t camp out but returned to ‘base’ to sleep. The meals are good — hearty and plentiful with cooked bacon and eggs each morning and a roast one night. Blazing fires both inside and out to keep you warm. The thing I remember is the peace, the joy, the laughter. I wasn’t back in Melbourne before I was plotting my return, and messaging all my horse girlfriends about the experience. A+ experience Thanks Shelly, Paul and the team especially Molly, Lisa and Ryan

Paul and Shelly are great people and great fun!!! I have ridden a few times with Buckle Up Bush Rides now and their hospitality is second to none. They have a great crew, the staff are so friendly and helpful. Their horses among the absolute best I have ridden. Literally, they have something for everyone from beginners to experienced riders. Their knowledge of the bush and their horses is a stand out, providing guests with a unique experience every time. I can't wait to go back, riding through the mountains and rivers in the Victorian High Country with these people. Love you all heaps Pauline❤❤❤

Shelley, Paul and the whole crew were amazing. Highly recommend this crew! Top notch service, made us feel at home every second. A 3 day ride went way too fast (mind you, the muscles I'd forgotten about were singing by the end). They are happy to just go for a scenic wander (and it is a beautiful area!) or off for a canter. They'll take you to parts of Vic that you wouldn't see otherwise. Beginner to experienced riders, doesn't matter, everyone should go. Downside? ....wanted to stay longer but had to get back to work.

Definitely a must do experience. I myself with my sister, have done 7 High Country rides with this amazing family business. My sister and I originally heard about Buckle Bush rides from word of mouth. Our experience, being a return customer, I highly recommend Buckle Up Bush rides. Their devotion, care and love of their horses, means you will be riding a very happy steed. The scenery is always different each and every year, you never get bored with its splendor. These rides are a must do for the Bucket List.
