I came back today after vowing to never come back due to the state. But it is genuinely clean and the staff could not be nicer. Really impressed and I urge anyone who hasn’t come back due to the hygiene mainly to give it another go. Very excited to see the new playarea this year too.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

The trajectory here matters: one early-2026 visit reports a real clean-up after a sustained period of poor conditions. Families considering a visit should check the most recent reviews before booking — if the improvement holds, this becomes a reasonable option for ages 0–11 with birthday party packages.

Extremely disappointing experience. We were invited to a birthday party at Chipmunks Playland & Café Cockburn. At first glance, everything seemed fine, but once we explored the play area more closely, we were shocked by the condition and safety issues. The netting used as barriers on the second and third levels was held together with zip ties and string — clearly not secure or up to safety standards. Thick layers of dust had accumulated over months, possibly years, and were falling from the netted tunnels as children crawled through them. (See attached photo for reference.) Tables were left dirty with leftover food for extended periods, and staff seemed to pay little attention to cleanliness throughout the venue. The overall hygiene was unacceptable. There was a noticeable lack of proper emergency evacuation signage. The few signs we did find didn’t appear to meet legal requirements. The male toilets were poorly lit, with only two working lights — one directly above a stall. This left the disabled stall and urinals in dark, dingy conditions. One of the other parents asked for hand sanitizer at the front counter. When she used it, the strong smell of acetone was overwhelming. She asked if it was actual hand sanitizer and was told, “It’s just what gets ordered.” The staff then took the container and said kids could come up to the counter to use it — which raises serious concerns about safety and whether they even have a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the product. Other indoor play centres cost less for entry and are far cleaner, better maintained, and more enjoyable. If you value safety and cleanliness, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Don’t bother unless you’re okay with sitting in filth.

This place is beyond gross. I also unfortunately did not read reviews before arriving. The ball pit is vile. Most of the balls were visibly filthy and had multiple chew marks taken out of them. This is the first indoor play centre I have taken my daughter too and unfortunately it's already kind of ruined the idea of them for me. The girl on the front desk too was also not the most helpful, I mentioned it's our first time here so we aren't sure how it works and all she said was 'we've just opened' yep.... ???? Anyways. Will not be returning to this place.

I wish id checked the recent reviews before going here. Havent been for a few years and it used to be a great place. But now it is DISGUSTING. Dirty, lots of toys broken, equipment held together with masking tape and string empty ball pits, minimal toys in baby play area. Unbelievable. I dont understand why it hasnt been shut down.
