1 / 3Don River Railway
đ Don, TAS
Heritage railway museum with one of Tasmania's largest collections of locomotives, carriages, and freight wagons.
What a lovely couple of hours we spent here. The museum is a great collection of local railway history. Especially loved to be able to walk around the rolling stock and the signalhouse. We felt like VIPs on the train ride - whole carriage to ourselves. The volunteers were great and knowledgeable too.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with train-enthusiast kids and anyone drawn to living railway history. The walkable rolling stock and authentic train rides suit school-age children upwards. Toddlers can enjoy the open-air museum sections. The train journey itself is short, so pair it with the full museum walkthrough to fill a couple of hours.

âAlways an awesome visit!! Freindly people and they keep getting new (old) rolling stock and locos in good condition. They have a very active roster and good restoration program too. Well worth a visit and a train ride.â

âGreat place for railway enthusiasts and those who missed the early days of railway travel. A great collection of restored working railway vehicles. A credit to those enthusiasts who have restored the equipment.â
