Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre
π Queens Domain, TAS
The only facility in Hobart with children's slides and water play equipment, plus a 50m pool, outdoor pool, spa access, group fitness classes, and over 100 free parking spaces. Central Queens Domain location.
Well maintained facility. Glad the inside and the water was warm. Family shower rooms were good too though cleanliness could be improved.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for Hobart families who want water play with slides β no other facility in the city offers this. Membership pays off quickly for families who visit more than twice per month at casual adult rates. Avoid school holiday peak periods if possible; the pool gets crowded and the toddler play zone competes for space.

βThis popular aquatic centre in Hobart tends to be crowded on weekends and school holidays when many kids visit. The casual price for adult swim and spa access is $18.30, which is somewhat high, but membership makes it more affordable for regular visitors. The facility features a 50m pool, sometimes divided into two 25m sections for lap swimming, and a kiddy pool with slides. There are two shallow spas, both about 70cm deep. Staff members are friendly, and there's a small cafΓ© on-site.β

β50m pool, nice staff, it could be 5 stars but itβs crowded and at times I got kicked by the plastic long blades some people wear. Itβs painful to receive those kicks but it seems staff is unbothered by the offenders. You have no power and if you are a woman the only choice you have is to leave.β

βDo not recommend for shower use (travellers) As travellers we have been using aquatic centres for showers across Aus, this is typically $2 per person but here we were charged $5.80 p/p. Without much other option we paid. My partner didnβt feel comfortable showering with no privacy in a very busy public bathroom so he walked straight out. The female showers were incredibly small and setup for a rinse off not a shower. There is nowhere to put anything down other then a single hook which due to the size of the shower will also be wet. The floor also floods with water. Youβd probably think βhow bad can it beβ but I would recommend you donβt waste your money here. It is advertised online to be $2 for a non-swim entry also so will be in contact regarding a refund.β
