1 / 3Event Cinemas - Mackay City
π Mount Pleasant, QLD
Multi-screen Event Cinemas in Mackay City with recliner seating options, candy bar snacks, family combos, and kids combos. Suits families seeking the traditional big-screen experience in the region.
Went there, did that. It's still the cinema; big, loud, and overwhelming for sensory skilled individuals. That's the way they like it. We had a great time. There was popcorn and malteasers and digital technology. One day, they will show a movie about me. Until then, i will be the weirdo singing and dancing in front of the big screen, doing shadow puppets until they encourage me to exit the theatre. It was clean and all the staff were polite and it was fun to go at night.
π Family Action Verdict
The primary cinema option for Mackay families wanting a big-screen outing. Matinee sessions tend to offer a more settled environment for younger children. Families who experience disruption from other patrons during a session should notify staff promptly β management responds when informed.

βNo control. Children under 8 running around very noisy in a M rated movie. Someone needs to be around to watch what is going on in the cinema. Thank God for a courageous woman who went over and told the mother off 2 hours in to a 3 hour movie. Lift your game Mackay cinema people.β

βThe Mackay Mount Pleasant cinema is failing its customers. A group of teenagers talked loudly for most of the movie and sat on their phones watching TikTok at full brightness, completely ruining the experience for everyone around them. The real issue is that no ushers came in to check the cinema at any point. This is entirely the cinemaβs responsibility. When staff actually monitored screenings, this behaviour didnβt happen. Now there is clearly no supervision and no consequences. On top of this, the bathrooms are derelict and poorly maintained, and the seats and cup holders are generally unclean. Sticky surfaces and a lack of basic hygiene only add to how unpleasant the experience is. Sadly, this is a very regular and common problem in Mackay, and it reflects poorly on management. People pay good money for tickets and deserve far better. Until basic standards of cleanliness and supervision are restored, this venue is not worth visiting.β

βGot to the cinema early and the line was nearly out the door. They had 4 movies starting at the same time. I pre-purchased tickets online but had to collect the prepaid snacks. Spent 20mins in line for half the food to be out of stock anyways.. $10 for the smallest frozen drink is absurd. When I finally got into the movie it had already well and truly started. Needs better managing, maintenance and faster staff that have better attitude.β
