1 / 3George Bolton Swimming Centre Burnside
📍 Hazelwood Park, SA
Outdoor swimming centre in Hazelwood Park with three pools spanning toddler to adult depth, set among mature eucalyptus trees. On-site BBQ areas, a cafe, change rooms and a kiosk with goggles available.
Been passing this pool for years but this morning drove from Brighton have a swim. Brilliant pool in a stunning location. Coffee was world class and cafe staff were friendly and professional as were the life guards. Bit weird in this day an age to have little school children (unaccompanied by an adult or teacher) wandering through the change rooms where grown men were getting changed, but that's probably more a school issue.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families wanting a relaxed outdoor swim day with the feel of a park rather than a commercial pool. The toddler pool and BBQs make it work for all ages across a full day. First-time visitors should map the entrance before arriving — the car park is far and the gate is not obvious from the road.

“Beautiful pool, though bees can be a problem. As an elderly person who lives alone and doesn't get a lot of social contact, it was really lovely to have lifeguard Dan have a brief friendly chat to me. Really made my day. And I learnt that there is a seniors swim program though I believe that is fully booked. I will be putting my name on the waiting list for that.”

“Beautiful location set amongst old eucalyptus trees with lots of grass area for sitting. Good facilities, change rooms, restrooms, kiosk, and 3 pools for different ages. The lifeguards are attentive. There's even a couple public BBQs and tables. It's all right next to a beautiful huge park with some play equipment. You can buy goggles inside if you need.”

“Chill day at the pool, there are a couple of BBQ's so you can bring your own meat and have a Barbie by the poolside. There's also a coffee shop with a good menu if you don't feel like making your own. Three pools for different age ranges. The main pool is very large. Surrounding areas are clean and many lifeguards are around.”

Overview
George Bolton Swimming Centre offers three outdoor pools — a large main pool, an intermediate pool and a toddler-friendly pool — in a bush-like setting with natural shade from old eucalyptus trees. Families can use the public BBQs beside the pool or the on-site cafe. Goggles are available at the kiosk. Attentive lifeguards are praised in reviews. Car park is a substantial walk from the entrance and the entry point can be hard to locate on a first visit.
