Such a lovely place to visit. Not too big (so you can actually make your way around to everything easy) but also lots of animals! So many enclosures and all were so good, plenty of plants and space and very natural looking inside. Cool variety of animals - natives, primates, reptiles, farm, exotic. Can feed kangaroos and wallabies as well as farm animals. Also an awesome shop and the good people were eating from the Cafe smelt amazing. Very well kept, the signs were being updated while we were there and they had plenty of signs apologising for it, while still having some signs available. Only thing that bothered me was the map, was hard to use - maybe try a satellite image to help place where things are accurately or you know someone with a drone who could take above photos? I'm good with maps but was very hard to use, it didnt show any paths on it or anything.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families who want genuine hands-on wildlife contact rather than a viewing-only zoo. Kids under ten are especially captivated by the free-roaming kangaroos. The compact layout means no one gets exhausted, and the koala cuddle is a standout memory β€” book it in advance or you will miss out.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Book koala cuddle sessions online before visiting β€” they sell out on busy days
⏰Buy animal feed at the entrance to maximise kangaroo, wallaby, and duck interactions
🎟️Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes for the gravel paths
πŸš—Arrive earlier in the day when animals are most active

β€œI really enjoyed visiting Gorge Wildlife Park. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the whole visit feel relaxed and fun. It was great being able to hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies, and the chance to hold a koala was a memorable highlight. The park felt manageable and not overwhelming... you can see a nice variety of animals without needing a whole day. Overall it’s a lovely wildlife park, especially if you want a close-up, hands-on experience with Aussie animals.”

β€œI was very surprised at the variety of creatures we saw at this zoo. The setup is great. I loved the areas where we could be up close to the kangaroos, the picnic spots, and a great kiosk which serves takeaway food and all kinds of souvenirs.”

Overview

Gorge Wildlife Park packs an impressive variety into 15 acres β€” freely roaming kangaroos, wallabies, ducks, ibis, pelicans, black swans, peacocks, an Australian boobook owl, and a well-curated reptile section. Koala cuddle sessions are ticketed and sell out, so book before arriving. Paths are clearly laid out with shaded rest spots throughout. A kiosk serves takeaway food and stocks souvenirs, making a two-to-three-hour visit entirely self-contained.
