1 / 2Gorge Wildlife Park
π Cudlee Creek, SA
One of Australia largest privately owned wildlife parks with native and exotic animals across 15 acres. Kangaroos roam freely for hand-feeding, koala cuddle sessions run daily (book ahead), plus birds, reptiles, and a kiosk on site.
I was very surprised at the variety of creatures we saw at this zoo. The setup is great. I loved the areas where we could be up close to the kangaroos, the picnic spots, and a great kiosk which serves takeaway food and all kinds of souvenirs.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families who want genuine hands-on wildlife contact rather than a viewing-only zoo. Kids under ten are especially captivated by the free-roaming kangaroos. The compact layout means no one gets exhausted, and the koala cuddle is a standout memory β book it in advance or you will miss out.

βI really enjoyed visiting Gorge Wildlife Park. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the whole visit feel relaxed and fun. It was great being able to hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies, and the chance to hold a koala was a memorable highlight. The park felt manageable and not overwhelming... you can see a nice variety of animals without needing a whole day. Overall itβs a lovely wildlife park, especially if you want a close-up, hands-on experience with Aussie animals.β

Overview
Gorge Wildlife Park packs an impressive variety into 15 acres β freely roaming kangaroos, wallabies, ducks, ibis, pelicans, black swans, peacocks, an Australian boobook owl, and a well-curated reptile section. Koala cuddle sessions are ticketed and sell out, so book before arriving. Paths are clearly laid out with shaded rest spots throughout. A kiosk serves takeaway food and stocks souvenirs, making a two-to-three-hour visit entirely self-contained.
