We visited Hunter Valley Wildlife Park with my uncle, aunt, and my 4-year-old sister, and it was a really lovely experience. The park is clean, calm, and very easy to walk around, which was perfect with a young child. My sister especially loved seeing the animals up closeβ€”kangaroos, deer, colourful birds, camels, and the lions were her favourite. The animals looked well cared for, and there were lots of great photo moments. It was fun, relaxing, and not too crowded. Overall, it was a happy family outing and a great place to visit with kids. We all enjoyed our time and made some nice memories together. Highly recommended for families visiting the Hunter Valley. 😊

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Strongest for toddlers through age 6 who want physical contact with animals β€” something Taronga Zoo cannot offer. The feeding zones are the centrepiece. Visit early morning in warmer months; midday heat across the open grounds makes the experience much harder for young children. Buy tickets online for a significant per-ticket saving.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Buy tickets online through resellers for significant per-ticket savings
⏰Arrive early to avoid heat β€” the grounds are largely open and exposed by midday
🎟️Bring cash or budget for animal feeding β€” children will want to do every station
πŸš—Collect the stamping book at entry β€” completing it earns a prize

β€œHunter Valley Wildlife Park is a wonderful place for families. There’s a good variety of animals to see, and we really enjoyed feeding the kangaroos, deer, goats, camels and even the ostrich. My daughter especially loved the animal feeding; she enjoyed it so much. Both my son and daughter had a great time doing the summer stamping activity book, and they were so excited to receive a little activity bag and soft toy after completing it. Such a fun idea for kids. Overall, it’s the best place to relax and enjoy time with family, especially when life gets busy. A lovely day out for everyone.”

β€œVery friendly park, my daughter is 17,5 months. She enjoys every bit of the park. This park is way better than Taronga zoo (if you have a smaller kid, because your kids can touch animals and feed them). I bought tickets from JTR holidays site, they resell tickets with half price each”

β€œGreat experience. Heaps of animals in well designed enclosures. Took two kids under 6 and they had a ball. It’s advantageous visiting smaller zoos as you get a much closer experience with the animals. Lions and Koalas were a highlight!”
