1 / 2Majestic Theatre
đ Malanda, QLD
Heritage cinema in Malanda operating since 1929, constructed from local hardwood and in original form. Modern digital projection and surround sound. Current family films screened daily at relaxed pace.
Calendar Girls innerwheel FNQ Tablelands Gala show. The show was brilliant. Absolute professional acting. Fabulous night..book now don't miss out.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families who want a genuine heritage movie outing away from mall multiplexes. The relaxed single-screen format suits all ages. Vintage canvas sling chairs can feel uncomfortable on longer films â bring a small cushion. Check the program before visiting as daily session count is sparse.

âGreat prices, laid back and comfortable. I'd recommend bringing some pillows and blankets (they do supply some) I also love that they offer a range hot drinks which I prefer over soft drink.â

âThis theatre is another reason why I love Malanda. Very historical. Nothing fancy. I didn't have the luck for a movie there as the time I stayed in Malanda is limited but I did visit it for a bit. Guess it's hard to find a theatre like this anymore. They only play limited of movies per day as there is only one hall. You can get some snacks outside the theatre. Overall I just love it.â

Overview
Built in 1929 from local hardwood timber, the Majestic Theatre is Australia longest-running commercial cinema in its original structure. Digital projection and surround sound sit inside authentic heritage bones. Screenings run daily with a small program â one hall means sparse sessions. Hot drinks available alongside snacks. Fantastically affordable compared to modern multiplexes.
