Noojee Heritage Centre
π Noojee, VIC
Noojee Heritage Centre at the former railway station houses a fully restored J-class steam locomotive, volunteer guides, a gift-and-coffee cafe, and is the trailhead for the 3km Noojee Rail Trail return walk.
The centre brings the area's timber and railroad history to life, giving us a glimpse into the lives and culture of the people who lived in the area in the past. Stop here for a walk, picnic or coffee, enjoy the views of the valley, meet the friendly people and get away from it all.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families on a Gippsland day drive who want a genuine heritage stop with a real steam locomotive, a short flat rail trail walk and a cafe pit-stop. Train-obsessed kids get a close-up of a restored J-class engine. The volunteer guides keep it engaging without being lecture-heavy.
