1 / 3Queensland Museum Cobb+Co
đ Toowoomba City, QLD
Regional museum with restored 19th-century Cobb+Co carriages, a hands-on kids science zone featuring a magnetic engineering wall and Create a Bug station, and life-size horse displays children can climb on.
Interesting place indeed. So much Australian History. This place makes you proud to be an Aussie. I loved all the old carriages especially the caravan. I also thought the Cobb & Co. Journey's were fascinating, I could have watched and read it all. There were boxes and suitcases around the place showing you what families lived in the area. That was clever. The Saddlery and Wheelwright workshops were very interesting. I liked how you can go to classes to learn these trades. Toowoomba's Carnival of Flowers pot plant winners were on show throughout the museum, very colourful. As I was an out of towner, it costs me $12.50 but if you lived in the Toowoomba region it was free. It's a small price to pay for some wonderful Australian history. I highly recommend.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with school-aged children who engage with both history and hands-on science. The carriage collection is genuinely impressive and well-explained. Younger kids gravitate to the Create a Bug and engineering wall stations. Blacksmithing workshops suit ages 10 and up.

âWas just passing by and decided to go in and suss it out. Loved the museum! Their displays of restored carriages from the 19th century is amazing, well explained and interactive, really preserved a piece of Queensland history! There is also a science area for kids, very interactive and fun, highly recommended. The prices are fair, 12.5$ adults, and 10$ for students or concesionâ

âPerfect few hours to get kids back to creativity & fun. Loved the kids space with Create a Bug and puzzles area. The science area is interesting and the magnetic engineering wall is brilliant for thinking imagination. Great display of old wagons, carts & life-size horses, even one the kids could sit on. Hours of creative school holiday fun. Great museum.â

âWas there for the intro Blacksmith course which was fun, practical and pretty Zen. Knowledgeable instructor, great bunch of participants, good gear and very hands on. Thoroughly recommend. Good interpretation in the museum and full workshops where they rehab old coaches.â
