“I’ve just completed my fifth ride with Kev and Mel, and my fourth time on the iconic seven-day ‘Man from Snowy River’ movie ride. I keep coming back for one simple reason: this is, without doubt, one of the most stellar horse rides Australia has to offer. This is not a ride for the faint-hearted. The High Country is steep, rugged, and mountainous, so one needs to be confident on horseback. Kev Higgins is one of the last true mountain men-and one of the original riders from the second movie-who still leads people deep into this extraordinary country. Watching Kev work with his horses is something special; I am always perfectly matched to my mount, and the horses are exceptional. This most recent ride was hands down one of the best rides I’ve ever done, and that says a lot given I travel the world riding. Days were filled with breathtaking scenery, including riding through locations where iconic movie scenes were filmed, and evenings brought laughter, great food, and stories of the mountain’s history and the making of the films, shared around the campfire. Safety for both riders and horses is always paramount and Kev’s ability to anticipate and direct situations-often long before riders are aware-speaks volumes about his experience and that Kev’s instructions are grounded in deep knowledge of both country and the horses. In today’s litigious world, it’s remarkable that he continues to offer this 7 day ride rather than sticking to easier, shorter options. I cannot recommend this ride highly enough. If you haven’t ridden in the High Country, you truly don’t know what you are missing and Kev and Mel and the team are the ones to take you there. I’ll be back.”

“Having read reviews I felt the need to share my experience several months ago. This is value for money. Great accommodation. Warm. Dry. Great views on ride. But big but Kevin yells at everybody. I felt like a 4 year old worried when it would be my turn. But he looks after his horses. They ate well fed well shod and well cared for. After every stop he checked on the welfare of his horses putting them first. So take a chill pill Kevin as I will not return to be yelled.at.”
