Best cinema I’ve been to. Every theatre is thoughtfully and beautifully designed. Viewing angles and screen size compared to theatre sizes is so good, especially for immersion while still feeling personal, many times you feel as if you’re in a perfectly designed home theatre. There as many days friends and I have attending multiple sessions for different films in the same day and the verity of style and size of theatres never gets old. Championing film projection and independent cinema just goes to show the love of film the owners and team have. The unique screenings and events just go on to further showcase this. The staff a great and always helpful, keep bringing the smiles to the community guys πŸ™ Looking forward to coming in again.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

The best independent cinema option in Melbourne west for families who want a premium experience without a multiplex crowd. Baby sessions make it accessible for parents with infants. Avoid Row A in the Lyric Cinema β€” reviewers report sitting less than two metres from the screen.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Book ahead for popular sessions and special events β€” theatres sell out
⏰Avoid Row A in the Lyric Cinema, which sits uncomfortably close to the screen
🎟️Free parking is available directly behind the building
πŸš—Baby sessions run regularly β€” check the schedule if you have an infant

β€œBeen a local western suburbs person for most of my life, and amazingly, this was my first visit to the Sun Theatre. First, I was greeted by a very friendly young man at the counter/kiosk who advised me where to go to the right cinema room and provided hot, fresh popcorn and a drink. Both were lovely. I watched "The Accountant 2" in the La Scala theatre room. The lounge chairs were extremely comfortable. The cinematic experience was fantastic in the retro-style room. The vision and sound were excellent. I wholeheartedly recommend the Sun Theatre. I'll definitely be going again and have even signed up as a member. Thank you for a wonderful day.”
