One of the best zoos I have visited. The animals all seemed very happy and their enclosures were large, clean and filled with enrichment activities. The zoo is easy to walk around and the food from the cafΓ© was delicious. The Tassie devil encounter was marvellous and I particularly liked the dinosaur walk - so much fun for any dino enthusiast! I'll definitely be back when I'm in Tasmania again.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families who want more than passive animal viewing. The hands-on encounters with Tasmanian devils and wombats are the standout draw and suit all ages from toddlers to grandparents. Weekday visits avoid parking pressure and tend to feel more relaxed.

β€œThis zoo was the best that I’ve ever visited. It was so calm and peaceful. It was clear that the animals were well cared for since they had plenty of fresh food and enrichment. I completed the Tasmanian Devil encounter and it was a wonderful experience. The lady who ran it was lovely and took a fantastic photo. There was such a wide range of animals, and they were all very active and friendly.”

β€œAbsolutely loved Tasmania Zoo and would definitely recommend a visit here. The on hands experience which is available was amazing. We had photos with a wombat and Tasmanian Devil and the awesome experience of feeding the giraffes. Couldn’t fault the facilities and the dedication of the staff was incredible and you could tell they loved their jobs. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable”

β€œFabulous zoo with a varied collection of animals. Highlights were the Tasmanian devils and wombat handling. I was pleased to see the animals all have good living conditions. Plenty of space, shade and areas to play, climb and hide. Parking was easy as we went during the week. The staff appeared to enjoy the animals and care for them well. Fabulous zoo!”
