Warrnambool Wildlife Encounter is an absolute hidden gem. What truly sets it apart is the incredible level of interaction β€” you can get up close with almost every animal in the park. The staff are warm, passionate, and genuinely dedicated to animal care, which you can clearly feel the moment you arrive. All the animals are energetic, well-cared-for, and full of life, reflecting the outstanding attention they receive. If the rating scale goes up to 100, I would gladly give this place 200. Without a doubt, it is the most worthwhile wildlife experience to visit in vic.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families travelling the Great Ocean Road who want a wildlife stop with real hands-on contact rather than just sightseeing. The intimate group size and knowledgeable guides make it accessible for nervous visitors, including those who have never handled Australian animals before.

β€œWowβ€” this experience was amazing! Our guides were Billy and Pepper, and their knowledge and care for the animals was evident from the jump. They introduced a small group to Australian reptiles, mammals, and birds. We got to feed the kangaroos and various animals. We als paid for the koala encounterβ€” WORTH EVERY PENNY to gently pet these amazing animals. (Yes, only pet as outlined by law in VIC.) If in doubtβ€” just go! Thank you Billy and Pepper for the amazing morning!!”

β€œWarrnambool Wildlife Encounters was such a special place for us, especially with family visiting all the way from Taiwan. Meeting and taking photos with the animals was a really meaningful moment, even for those who were a bit nervous at first. Every animal felt well cared for and the staff were so patient, kind and knowledgeable throughout. Thank you to all the team and the beautiful animals for making today unforgettable. This day will stay in our hearts forever.”

β€œLovely guide lady that brought us to see many animals, like a snake, lizard, owls, kangaroos, birds, and the cute koalas! Beware of the emus and the goat, they can be a bully sometimes and snatch your bucket of foodπŸ˜‚. Pudding the Wombat was great to us. Got a free refill of food for the animals when mine got snatched away by the emu. Overall great experience for the low price”

Overview

Warrnambool Wildlife Encounters sits near Cudgee on the Great Ocean Road circuit and offers genuine animal interaction rather than viewing from a distance. Guides Billy and Pepper lead small groups through encounters with reptiles, birds, and mammals including koalas, wombats, and free-roaming kangaroos. The koala encounter is an add-on. Reviewers note the emus and a goat named Pudding have strong personalities β€” food buckets may be snatched. Free food top-ups are available.
