So a couple of months ago I was lucky enough to experience what was an amazing morning aboard Wildlife Cruise’s awesome catamaran whale watching from Phillip Island. Aside from the setting several of our water wonder giants the beautiful humpback’s, the first class service provided by the outstanding Captain & crew was one of many reasons I decided to treat myself to the whale cruise around Wilson’s Prom. for my 50th, and what a wise decision this proved to be. To Captain Thommo (again!!), Danni & the rest of this crew a hummungas thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the informative information, generous help given to me, amazing knowledge you have proven by the huge number of whales seen on this must experience cruise, and even more activity and moves from the sensational humpbacks such as corkscrews and lunges. These memories will be forever in my memory, so again thank you so so much (I honestly can’t say that enough) for a 50th birthday for the ages!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️Matt.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for nature-loving families with children aged 8 and up who are comfortable on a boat for a full day. The whale and sea lion encounters are genuine wildlife experiences, not guaranteed sightings — reviewers who managed to photograph breaching humpbacks describe it as a standout life moment.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Book well in advance during whale season — departures are sparse and fill quickly
Bring layers and windproof clothing — conditions on the water change throughout a six-hour cruise
🎟️Pack motion sickness medication if anyone in the group is susceptible — seas can vary
🚗Bring a camera with a zoom lens for whale photography — reviewers with longer lenses got the best shots

As a photography enthusiast, I am always searching for dramatic landscapes and unique wildlife encounters, and the Wildlife Coast Cruise completely delivered! This trip was an absolute highlight of my time in South Gippsland. The journey around the stunning Wilsons Promontory coastline offered non-stop photo opportunities, from the rugged, wave-battered cliffs to the isolated granite boulders painted with vibrant orange and red lichen. The best part was the incredible animal life. We had unforgettable, close-up views of Australian Fur Seals basking and playing on the rocks. I also managed to capture some spectacular shots of Australasian Gannets soaring overhead, as well as, of course, some seals. The crew was knowledgeable, , and they positioned the boat perfectly to ensure everyone got a fantastic view (and a great shot!). If you're looking for an immersive experience with Australia’s coastal wilderness and marine life, this is the cruise to book. Highly recommend!

Cannot recommend Wildlife Coast Cruises enough. My partner and I recently went on a Wilson’s Prom Full Day cruise with WLCC and it was just the best. The vessel was super comfortable and helmed by the most amazing crew - so kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable. Big shout out to Jonno, Lee, Tennielle and the rest of the crew for making the day so great. The cruise route was also incredible, seeing so many amazing physical and wild sights - we especially loved the stop off at refuge cove for a swim and explore. You will not regret a tour with these legends!

We just had a wonderful experience with your wale watching adventure! The crew was also very helpful and mindful of our safety. Experiencing the wale jumping and catching it with my camera was just a wonderful experience. Before this we only had the experience of seeing wale jumping was only on TV. Only problem we had was the on board sound system could be a bit better we had some problems hearing Michael's commentary.
