i booked an experienced ride for 8:30 Sunday morning. it was moved to 12 midday with little explanation. the ladies that took the ride were very nice. but when you put the slowest horse at the front it inhibits the rider behind so there was very little cantering available. plus too much stop and start. when you book an advanced or experienced ride you would expect to be able to trott for more than 10 strides. i found it very dissapointing. the people at the front are half way up the hill before cantering or trotting starts. the scenery was lovely and the weather was perfect

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children and adults seeking a genuine horse riding experience in a rural coastal setting rather than a fairground pony loop. Beginners are well-catered for — guides are patient and experienced. The additional adventure activities mean non-riding family members stay engaged.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Heel boots are mandatory for all riders — this rule is strictly enforced at check-in
Book beginner rides in advance as they fill quickly on weekends
🎟️Rides may be rescheduled with short notice — keep flexibility in your Peninsula itinerary
🚗Overnight accommodation with swag roof windows is excellent for stargazing in sparse light pollution

I absolutely loved my time at the ranch with my partner. It was exactly what we needed. It is peaceful as there are not many sites and there is not much light pollution so it was perfect for laying with the swag roof windows open and looking at the stars. The facilities looked to be new and were very well kept. Communication before our trip was fantastic and the staff we did interact with were lovely. The location is fantastic and makes a great bases for going out and exploring the peninsula. I’ll look forward to returning and going horse riding with our daughter.

I did the beginner horse riding course as someone who's never been before and it was a great experience. The girls leading the trail ride were all lovely and very knowledgeable, happy to answer all our questions about horses and very patient with all the riders throughout. All the horses were beautiful and perfect for beginners. Location was lovely as well - I think I will be back to do the intermediate ride as I am keen to try trotting!

Great venue and great experience. They run a smooth ship and very kind in how they streat their customers. Would highly recommend. They are particular about boots with heels for riding, but that's a good thing. Made sure everyone was safe and taken care of. Would definitely go again.
