1 / 3Bendigo Tramways
π Bendigo, VIC
Heritage talking trams running a hop-on-hop-off circuit between Central Deborah Gold Mine, Charing Cross, Lake Weeroona, and Joss House Temple. All-day tickets cover unlimited travel. Tram cafe at the depot.
Visited September 9, 2025. Start of Spring Season. This was such a good way to explore surrounding Bendigo areas. I visited Melbourne then decided to have a day tour in Bendigo, this is around 2hrs travel from Southern Cross. I advise to arrive in the morning (10am) for the tour then explore it by afternoon to see more of the area. I arrived in Bendigo train station at 11am but the next tour started after 1pm. You can definitely hop on/off the train to see more of each stop. These were the stops I explored: β‘οΈ Train Depot * Tram Cafe * Museum β‘οΈ Deborah Gold Mine * free cave exploration (just the surface, separate payment underground) * souvenir shop β‘οΈ Alexandra Fountain * Visitor Center * Military Museum * shops * walked going to Bendigo Train Station There was actually a special tram for a private tour. Will definitely go back to see more π·
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families visiting Bendigo for a full day who want structured transport between attractions without driving between sites. The talking format means kids absorb local history passively as travelling between stops. The Gold Mine and Art Gallery stops reward at least 45 minutes each.

βWe spent a really enjoyable couple of hours using the tram to have a conducted tour and to visit some of the highlights of Bendigo. The driver and conductor were very helpful. The gold mine is worth seeing and so is the really excellent Bendigo Art Gallery near the Charing Cross tram stop. We also liked the relaxed small central shopping area.β
