If you haven’t visited this attraction in Perth, this is an ABSOLUTE MUST! we had the best time this morning. My toddler absolutely loved it and it was safe an enjoyable to hold my 7 month old in my arms. This was an absolute joy and we will absolutely be back. Shout out to Annemarie who sorted my tickets after I accidentally booked on the wrong day, what an absolute legend for swapping us over to a weekend we could attend. I love when things like that are easy especially for kids as life is unpredictable and my brain is dead. It just made everything so comfortable and we left feeling so happy. Would recommend getting to the Kent street Weir carpark a little early as parking fills up fast, there is overflow parking you can use but as we were leaving around 11:30 this was pretty much full. Trains run on time and the journey is about 15 mins long but you can go again and again if you like. Today there were four trains running so loads of opportunity to go on them and the turn around is amazingly fast. There is a great playground (needs a shade sail so bring your hat and sunscreen) and a cafe close by if you need a coffee or snacks. Lots of park area where you can have a picnic for the day. Such a wonderful attraction in Perth!

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for toddlers and preschoolers captivated by trains β€” adults consistently report enjoying the ride just as much as the kids. The short journey length and ability to re-queue makes it easy for young children with sparse attention spans. The riverside setting and good facilities make a full morning outing straightforward for families.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Arrive early at Kent Street Weir β€” the car park fills quickly on busy mornings
⏰Multiple trains run simultaneously so queues move fast β€” kids can ride back-to-back
🎟️Check the timetable before visiting as the boarding station alternates between Kent Street Weir and Castledare (off Fern Rd)
πŸš—BBQ tables are available at the site for a post-ride picnic

β€œWe took our 2-year-old for the experience, and us adults had just as much fun. There were 4 trains running, and the drivers were fun and friendly. The scenery in places is lovely. There are BBQ areas and tables outside, which would be great for birthday parties. It is next to the Canning River, so you'll see people supping & kayaking through the river. There is an enclosed dog park and a Cafe.”
