1 / 3Classic Cinemas
π Elsternwick, VIC
Classic Cinemas is an independent venue in Elsternwick running current releases alongside Classic Junior weekend screenings, cult classics nights, musical retrospectives, and a licensed rooftop bar. Cafe, jazz room, and free parking on site.
I love this independent cinema so much! Very close to the city, clean cinema interiors, decent leg room, great customer service at the bar, and polite moviegoers. My boyfriend and I came to watch the restoration of the Seven Samurai, and had the best time. By far my best movie going experience. For an independent cinema in Melbourne, I would say that the screen sizes in this cinema is generous. The wine I had with the movie was amazing, and a huge serving too. We also ordered nachos to eat while watching and it was delicious. I also love that this is the only place I can go to in Melbourne that consistently screens old Hollywood classics, which is my favorite genre. I will definitely be back. I had the best time.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 5 and up who appreciate atmosphere and programming beyond mainstream blockbusters. Classic Junior weekend screenings suit younger kids. Teens and adults consistently rate the film selection, popcorn, and vibe as among the best in Melbourne.

βLovely independent cinema. Great βclassicβ old features with period details like stained glass etc. Booked online which was easy. Snack bar with all the classics (popcorn, choc tops etc) was good with alcoholic beverages if desired. Seats were okay but I wouldnβt want to see a long movie as I was starting to feel a little uncomfortable by the end.β
