Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic and memorable attractions, and it’s easy to see why. From the moment you enter, you’re immersed in beautifully maintained grounds filled with native Australian wildlife, lush greenery, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The sanctuary offers an incredible opportunity to get up close with animals such as kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, and a wide variety of birds. The daily shows and animal encounters are well organised, informative, and engaging for all ages, making the experience both educational and entertaining. It’s clear the staff genuinely care about the animals and take pride in conservation and rehabilitation work. One of the highlights is how spacious and natural the environment feels. Walking paths are easy to navigate, signage is clear, and there are plenty of shaded areas to take a break, which is especially appreciated on warmer Gold Coast days. Everything is kept exceptionally clean and well presented, adding to the overall enjoyment of the visit. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is perfect for families, tourists, and locals alike. Whether it’s your first visit or a return trip, it consistently delivers a high-quality experience that showcases Australia’s unique wildlife in a respectful and engaging way. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Gold Coast β€” this is a must-see attraction that never disappoints.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with kids of any age wanting genuine hands-on Australian wildlife encounters in a professionally managed setting. The wildlife hospital adds educational depth beyond typical zoo visits. Plan a full day β€” the keeper talk schedule alone fills four hours and the croc and koala experiences each take dedicated time.

β€œDating to the late 40's, this local park continues to amaze and delight it's guests. Enjoy a train ride around the park, take in animal encounters with park guides, visit the animal hospital, hang out with koalas, or pay a fee for behind the scenes and photos with them. Tasty foods, healthy options with meat pies and sandwiches, and salads. Watch out for bird snatchers who violate the "Don't feed the birds" sign by simply stealing it when you aren't looking Gift shop only has a few items produced in Australia for sale...most mass produced from China. Easy parking. One of the nicest amenities was volunteer guides throughout the park to ask questions and directions. Fun for all ages 1-125!”

β€œReally well ran park with lots to do and learn. You can fill your whole days with talks which is what I like to do. All the staff are friendly and informative. The animal hospital is also really interesting being able to watch as the vets work. It is a little expensive when compared to similar experiences such as Lone Pines in Brisbane, which I think is slightly better value for money. Still recommend this if you are in the Gold Coast.”

β€œA must visit and an amazingly well run park. All the staff were friendly and more than happy to share their wealth of knowledge about the animals. The park itself is a good size and great for adults and kids alike. Spent a good 4 hours there and would come back. I recommend buying the tickets prior to entering as you can skip the longer line. Also 8-9am is the lorikeet feeding time which is peak excitement!”
