1 / 3Diamond Valley Miniature Railway
📍 Eltham, VIC
Authentic miniature railway in Eltham Lower Park running scenic 10-minute loops through two dark tunnels and shaded parkland on Sundays. Straddle-type carriages fit adults comfortably, with space for babies in carriers.
What a fantastic day out at the miniature trains! The volunteers were so friendly and welcoming, and even though it was busy the line moved really quickly. I was surprised at how much space there is in the carriages. I had my 2 month old in a baby carrier and my husband had our 17 month old sitting in front and we were both really comfortable. The track itself is great with little crossings and even a tunnel which made it so much fun for both the kids and us adults. The whole setup around the station makes it even better. There were food trucks and the park next door is fully fenced which is a big relief with toddlers. It has BBQs, accessible play equipment and plenty to do. I also loved the thoughtful touches like the sign language signs around the park. Such a great family friendly experience, highly recommend!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
A genuinely enjoyable ride for adults as well as children — the tunnels and lush reserve make it feel like a real railway rather than a novelty. Train-obsessed kids of any age will love it. Queues can stretch to 40 minutes at peak times, so factor that into your plan or arrive early.

“Super cute activity for both kids and adults! The miniature train track is much larger and more impressive than I expected. We arrived slightly after 3 pm and ended up waiting nearly 40 minutes, just unlucky timing, but the ride was absolutely worth it. The whole setup feels surprisingly “serious” and realistic, not toy-like at all. The track is long, the trains are well-maintained, and the 10-minute ride is genuinely fun as it winds through trees, small bridges, and open areas. When we got off, the queue had already shortened, so you could easily go for multiple rounds if you have the time. A charming and memorable experience overall!”

“This place is really fun and unique. It’s not only for the kids, you can still enjoy the ride as an ADULT. Everything is well organized and you don’t really have to wait that long even if there’s long queue. The ride is also not that short, goes through tunnels and the trail is extremely cute. The price is also reasonable. 👍👍👍”

“A truly remarkable local pastime in the Eltham area. Young children who are train enthusiasts will be in heaven. The railway runs through a lush and shaded nature reserve so even on a hot summer day it wasn't unforfortably hot. And hats off to the volunteers who keep this magficient family activity running.”
