1 / 3Flagstaff Gardens Playground
đ West Melbourne, VIC
One of Melbourne's only CBD playgrounds, with infant and older-child swings, a sandpit with diggers, slides, rope dome and spring rockers. BBQ facilities, picnic tables, toilets and a drinking fountain all on site.
FLAGSTAFF GARDENS IS AN ABSOLUTE GEM IN MELBOURNE'S CBD Flagstaff is a fantastic oasis of greenery and open space. It has a lot of history (Aboriginal burial ground, early flagstaff to signal that ships had arrived at the (then) colony, small pond that served as a watering hole in the 18th century and now.. a well used park in the centre of Melbourne. It is on a hill so you do get quite good views into the city and across to docklands. The playground is nicely blended in with the bigger park and the whole place feels quite relaxing.
đ Family Action Verdict
The go-to playground for families already in the CBD â a genuine green space away from traffic with equipment covering toddlers through primary-school age. The sandpit and varied climbing structures hold attention well. Best combined with a Queen Victoria Market visit to make the trip count.

âOne of the very few playgrounds close to the CBD square, of which it's the most green and decent in size. There are swings - 2 infant and many more for the other ages, sandpit with diggers, slides, spring rockers, a rope dome amongst other play. There's picnic benches and BBQ facilities next to it, as well as a public toilet. Mature trees provide shade. It's within a decent size garden for running around and right next to the queen Victoria Market, which was handy on days my toddler decided the playground wasn't interesting enough.â

âAwesome little playground on the edge of the city. Lots for the kids to do and green grass to run on as well.â
