Forest Glade Gardens
📍 Mount Macedon, VIC
Privately owned garden in Mount Macedon spanning multiple themed sections — English formal, Japanese, and natural woodland — plus a fern gully, decorative hedges, tunnels, fountains, and an apiary. Spring visits deliver peak colour.
One of the most beautiful gardens in Mount Macedon, this place is an absolute must-visit during spring. We visited the garden during October. The moment you enter, you’re surrounded by a breathtaking display of colorful blooms — it truly feels like stepping into a dream movie filled with vibrant flowers and sparkling water fountains. I believe it would look equally stunning in autumn, and I’m already hoping to visit again during that season to experience its beauty in a different light. The garden is not only about flowers; the carefully placed statues throughout the grounds add an artistic and elegant touch that complements the natural scenery. There are also a few charming summer huts, perfect for relaxing in the shade, and a spacious lawn area where you can enjoy a peaceful picnic amidst the blossoms. There is an entry fee of $15 for adults, but it’s definitely worth for the serene experience and it offers. According to their website, this garden was once privately owned but has now been gifted to a charity — making a visit feel even more meaningful. Toilets are conveniently located at the entrance. I would highly recommend this garden to anyone visiting Mount Macedon — a true floral paradise!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children who enjoy exploratory walks through varied terrain and natural environments. The tunnels, statues, fountains, and terrain changes give children discovery points beyond a standard garden stroll. Spring visits deliver the most visual reward.

“Absolutely exceptional in every way. The owner Graham, went far beyond what we ever expected, ensuring our ceremony felt private and protected, while still keeping the gardens open to the public. Graham also provided and set up ceremony guest chairs, directed guests, personally checked in with both the bride and groom on the day, and was there supporting us from the moment I walked down the aisle, right through until we left. The gardens themselves are simply breathtaking, immaculately cared for and the most beautiful setting we could have imagined. The wisteria was absolutely magical and meant we needed no ceremony décor to take away from the beauty. You can truly feel the pride, care, and love poured into this space. We felt so looked after and would recommend this garden for weddings a thousand times over 🤍 The biggest thank you to Forest Glade Gardens!”

“Peaceful, idyllic, beautiful gardens. You could spend a day lazing, reading and picnicking, or thoroughly walk through the whole park with the different terrains, plants and flowers. The statues and decorative hedges and features like tunnels, fountains, apiary, steps and slopes add to the sense of adventure. It's cool and lush even during summer!”

“This was an unexpected gem, as we didn't do much research before coming and only noticed the place from the cars parked out the front. A gorgeous relaxed walk (with some steps if you want to take the long route) Meander around and soak up the nature!”

Overview
Forest Glade Gardens sits in the Macedon Ranges and moves visitors through distinct garden styles in a single property. English formal sections transition into Japanese garden design, woodland areas, and a fern gully with varied terrain including steps and slopes. Decorative hedges, tunnels, fountains, and statues add discovery points throughout. Spring flowering is the peak season — October visits are described repeatedly as exceptional. Summer conditions produce dry, low-colour landscapes.
