📍 Mont Albert North, VIC
Healthways Recreation Centre combines quality learn-to-swim programs with Box Hill Tenpin — Australia's oldest bowling alley, established 1961. Instructors are praised for skill with special needs children and all abilities.
We've had such a fantastic experience at Healthways Recreation Centre over the years! My son joined the Learn to Swim program when he was little, and the instructors were always kind, patient, and professional — he built a lot of confidence in the water thanks to their guidance. We also recently hosted his birthday party at the bowling alley, and it was absolutely perfect. The party space was spacious and well set up, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the whole event. All the kids had a great time, and it was such a fun and stress-free day for us as parents. Since then, we've been back several times during school holidays for more bowling fun — it's become one of our favorite go-to spots in the area. Highly recommend both the swimming program and the bowling centre for families looking for quality programs and a welcoming environment!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children learning to swim or those wanting a reliable, caring party venue. Instructors excel with kids of all abilities including special needs children, making it a strong choice for support workers and parents alike. The bowling facilities are clean and spacious — well-suited to birthday groups of all sizes.

“We only have positive experience with healthways mont albert. My eldest love her swimming lessons, both kids have so much fun at school holiday program with swiming, ten pin bowling and arts. The owners are beautiful people, they are hands on, caring, understanding and friendly. You can see that they carefully selected the swim coaches. They are all passionate with what they do and care about each child's learning. You feel good coming here.”

“My ~4 year old has been doing swimming lessons here for quite a while now, the instructors are phenomenal. He is with Jordie on Sundays at the moment, who has greater capacity to entertain and teach kids than some parents I've met. Highly recommend if you're thinking of having your child learn to swim while also just having a fun outing”

“Perfect place. I bring my client here who has special needs. Mark the owner and the staff are incredible. They let us stay as long as we want for bowling. We pay 17.50 for one child/game. Incredibly helpful as a support worker or as a parent. My client would stay here 24/7 if he could!”
