Courts are decent, but it's difficult to get one due to how much they're booked by other activities. That said, the nets could do with being replaced. The gym needs work as well. Everything there is fine, and I respect that it's a small space, but they're missing a couple of crucial machines that would greatly elevate the experience. A pec deck and a low seated row would be a start. These could probably go in place of a couple of the treadmills or bikes.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families wanting access to a learner pool and diving facilities in the Balwyn North area. The separate children's pool is a genuine draw for families with young swimmers. Families who expect warm, responsive service may find the staff experience frustrating β€” the facilities are solid, the customer-facing culture less so.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘The separate children's learner pool is distinct from the main and diving pools β€” confirm which area suits your group before entering
⏰Book courts well in advance β€” courts are heavily scheduled and casual availability is sparse
🎟️Ask for a manager directly if a staff interaction goes poorly β€” the female manager on duty has been praised as an active listener by reviewers
πŸš—Pool rules are strictly enforced β€” no running, no unsanctioned diving, no filming

β€œAn amazing complex with a separate diving and kids pool, great for a quick dip or to bring the family. Shame about the one life guard who is on a personal mission to ruin everyone’s vibe and fun! β€œNo running, no diving, no filming, no diving with goggles, don’t chase the ducks, don’t chase the magpies, don’t laugh too loud, don’t breath too hard”. Maybe this kid needs to be removed from the field and put behind the desk, one more lecture and I think we are done.”

β€œFrom Auckland, NZ, I had a couple of swimming here. Facilities are much better than our council pools however the staffs need to a bit efficient to serve the customers. I’d say the service attitude and efficiency of our Auckland councils staffs are way more better. Hope I can see some improvement next time when I visit. Thank you.”

Overview

Boroondara Sports Complex houses a children's learner pool, separate diving facilities, a gymnasium, and stadium courts for netball and futsal. Swimming lessons, accessible programs, group fitness classes, and birthday parties round out the offering. Casual entry and memberships are both available. Multiple reviews raise consistent issues about customer service quality and strict rule enforcement at the pools.
