Living Legends
📍 Greenvale, VIC
Working sanctuary in Greenvale where retired champion racehorses live out their retirement. Guided tours include hand-feeding carrots to the horses, with knowledgeable staff covering each horse's racing history.
First of all, this place is spectacular. It has a great view and a nice walking path for leisure and unwinding. If you want some me time, this is a great place It's great for a picnic with family and friends. As a mental health key worker, coming to this place has become part of my self-care. I also take my clients to this place, and they love it. So I would really recommend this place.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with horse-loving children aged 5 and older who want genuine animal interaction rather than a zoo-style viewing experience. The guided tour format keeps children engaged with stories and hands-on feeding. The rural setting with multiple animal species extends the visit beyond the horse stables.

“Great place to visit retired racing champions. The tour is the way to go as the staff are quite knowledgeable and you also get to feed these beautiful horses lots of carrots. The cafe is small with a limited choice of refreshments, a pretty rose garden and toilet facilities. It is only a short drive from Melbourne airport and we'll worth a visit for and horse/racing lover.”

“I participated in parkrun at Living Legends on 6th December 2025. Director is very lovely. All volunteers and runners were very friendly. Thereafter lovely club for coffee and snacks. Halal food was also available. Highly recommended other than parkrun as well. There is paid visit and horses intro at farm as well if anyone wants to ....”

Overview
Living Legends houses retired racehorses — some former champions — in a rural setting close to Melbourne's northern suburbs. Guided tours are the recommended way to visit, with staff providing detailed histories of individual horses and supervising carrot-feeding sessions. The property includes sheep, ponies, and chickens alongside the horses. Walking and bike trails extend through the grounds. A small cafe serves light refreshments and the venue hosts a weekly parkrun.
