Woodlands Trail Riding (Riding Location)
π Oaklands Junction, VIC
Guided horse trail rides through the open grasslands and bushland of Woodlands Historic Park near Oaklands Junction.
My self and my 8 year old son recently visited here. We had a great 1 hour hack around the property riding Chino and Bowie. Both mounts were brilliant, full of life and really proud to show us there home paddocks. Zoe greeted us on arrival and got us tacked up and riding in no time at all. She was brilliant keeping a subtle eye on my son, even though we both are regular riders at home she still kept a close eye. Very professional and great company at the same time as telling a few stories about barrel racing, anyone that doesn't know should look it up and see how these riders 'ride the barrels', not for the amateur π. All in all a great place to spend some time while in Melbourne, lovely countryside, easy to get too great hosts and horses of course.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 2.5 and up who want a first horse encounter or a genuine trail ride in a natural setting close to Melbourne. The guides are experienced with very young children and first-time riders, making it accessible without prior experience.

βA collection of calm, graceful and responsive horses. I was a beginner and the ride was perfect for me. Bowie is a strong, powerful and intuitive horse. He is very picky and selective about who he lets ride and control him. A horse that is definitely not for the weak. The instructor, Janice, I think her name was, was great, professional and we never had a dull moment. I really enjoyed the day, worth every penny and would absolutely be back. ππ«Ά πβ

βI can't speak highly enough of this place, the staff and the horses! I took my son, 4.5yr old and daughter, 2.5 yr old each on a separate day for a pony ride. It was the best experience for all. We had Josh and Oliva as our guides, they were absolutely amazing with my children. They knew so much about the horses, how to speak to the kids and just made the experience one to remember. I HIGHLY recommend this place!β

βI had the pleasure of visiting during my trip to Melbourne. Even as a first-time rider, I was able to enjoy horseback riding comfortably thanks to the clear and easy-to-understand instructions. Located just 6 km from Melbourne Airport, this riding club is very accessible. The horses are incredibly cute, so if you ever feel like trying horseback riding, be sure to stop by!β
