1 / 3Melbourne Steam Traction Engine Club
π Scoresby, VIC
Volunteer-run steam centre in Scoresby with working traction engines, vintage machinery, a blacksmith shop, and miniature steam train rides. Engines run on the last Sunday of each month for the full experience.
Been driving past this place for years, itβs not every day you notice a tram out this far. Finally went this year for steam fest. If engineering is your thing this is definitely your place to be, my old man loved it! Also $4 for a miniature train ride. Volunteers were lovely and very informative and up for a yarn.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with train and machinery-obsessed kids aged 4 and up, and for adults who appreciate genuine industrial heritage. Target the last Sunday of each month when steam engines run β any other day is worth visiting for the static exhibits and train ride, as the running day transforms the experience.

βMy little one loves here. Itβs so interesting to see so many old engines running(they only run on the last Sunday each month). Sitting on the mini steam train is another highlight. The people working here are enthusiastic about their work and keen to pass the knowledge to others.β
