Olympic Ice Skating Centre (Oakleigh South)

“We held our daughters 7th birthday here on Saturday 27/5, as she wanted to celebrate at an ice skating venue. We didn't stumble upon the venue via word of mouth or anything like that. As soon as she mentioned "ice skating", this was the first and only venue I looked into as I had been here before on a high school end of year activity well over 20 years ago. Anyway we visited as regular customers a few months ago before locking in a decision, with neither my daughter and son having had any experience with ice skating. So I offered to take them for the first time, and thinking will they enjoy it? During the first visit they already wanted to come back so we did, that same week, twice. So three visits in one week (it was school holidays). I was quite impressed with the level of customer service and just the overall impression and experience. Because of the positive experience we had, the decision to have my daughters party here was a pretty easy one to make. From booking the party online, right through to the end of the party, everything was done with efficiency and ease. We were assigned a host Kira, and she was amazing. As were the hosts of other parties when Kira was not available at the time. Nothing was too much effort or too difficult for her. At times I needed to change things just slightly and the flexibility she showed was such a relief. Tom was our ice-skating instructor and he was great with the kids and us adults who decided to skate. He was patient, and very respectful. I was impressed with the fact that he took the time to introduce himself to me early on in the party, clearly explaining what the process was regarding the 15 minute lesson. To be honest, I was blown away by the entire experience. During the party, quite a few parents had said to me that their children already asked to have their upcoming birthday parties here, despite this party being their first ice skating experience! That made me so happy. All our guests were so happy with the experience, but most importantly, my daughter had the time of her life, I'm even going to say that this was the best birthday she has celebrated so far. Thankyou all so much for giving my daughter a birthday full of fun, that was free of stress or chaos for her and all of us who were there to help celebrate! See you all again soon 😁”

“Olympic Ice Skating Centre offers a fun ice-skating experience. The rink itself is spacious and well-maintained, allowing skaters of all levels to enjoy. Beginners will appreciate the availability of instructors. The atmosphere is generally upbeat with music setting a lively backdrop. However, the rental skates, while functional, could benefit from a refresh, and the facility's decor feels a tad dated. Snack bar options are adequate but somewhat limited in variety. During peak times, expect the rink to be bustling, which may deter those seeking a quieter skate. Overall, it's a commendable venue with potential for a few modern updates.”

“A lot of love has been put into this rink over the last couple of years. It’s a smaller rink that offers public skate, ice hockey and figure skating. Our boys do ice hockey lessons and they offer sessions for just about any age and ability and gear rental. The cafe is a cozy place to sit if you just want to watch and has decent coffee, hot food, snacks and even some US candy and drinks.”

“I took my 4-year-old niece ice-skating for her first time today during the morning public skate session and we had a great time! The staff were very friendly, other skaters were encouraging, the penguin aid was useful (until she didn't need it anymore) and we will absolutely be back. The building / floors / bathrooms could do with a little love, but it was still a great experience.”
