1 / 2Palace Central Cinemas
π Chippendale, NSW
Ten-screen boutique cinema on the top level of Sydney Central, showing indie, international, and family-friendly releases. Comfortable seating with a licensed bar and free membership program for discounted tickets.
I really enjoy coming here because it is smaller so there is generally less people and itβs usually pretty clean and the seats are pretty comfortable. It does feel sort of under staffed as they donβt check your tickets and it feels more like an honesty system. They have a bar which you can buy wines and other beverages. The audio isnβt overly loud unlike the main cinemas so great if you have sensory issues or if you just donβt like the volume too loud. The screen is smaller as the cinema is smaller. They also have a lot more international and indie movies. So itβs not for everyone but I find it enjoyable as there is less people playing on their phones or being rowdy.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older children or teens who appreciate quieter, less crowded screenings and international film selections. The lower volume levels make it a strong choice for children with sensory sensitivities. Families with very young children needing quick bathroom access should note some screens are a longer walk from facilities.

βGorgeous cinema with really comfy seating. Located on the top level of the Sydney Central complex. The wine bar and seating area looks great and is also a good place to hang pre or post movie. The cinema always has foreign film festivals screening which is awesome as the variety of films are excellent. The usual snacks are available as well as a licensed bar. Sing up for the free membership as it offers discounts on all tickets.β

βIt has like 10 fairly small cinemas showing different movies. Very comfortable like a private viewing room. Highly recommended. The last movie watched there was the brilliant Kukuho.β

βFirst time I watched here. It surprises me that the cinema has such curtain that will close before the movie starts and open after it ended, so I get to see the outside view before hand. The price is very cheap, $10-$16 for member student and you can join the member for free so you donβt have to pay full price. The only thing bothering me is that some auditorium is far from the bathroom, and the one Iβm in is one of them (cinema 10). Apart from that, the sound quality here is amazing. Would love to go back here again. (Round 4 Infinity Castle is still worth it)β
