1 / 3Palace Cinemas | James Street
π Fortitude Valley, QLD
Upscale boutique cinema in Fortitude Valley's James Street precinct. Small intimate theatres with comfortable seating, licensed bar, and children's birthday party packages with private screenings available.
I went to this cinema at night, so I could easily park my car on the nearby street. In many small theaters, I was able to sit in a comfortable chair and enjoy the movie I like. The chair has a small table. The cinema is a clean and open space. We ate a caramel salt ice bar. But 8 dollars each was too expensive. I was able to watch movies cheaply at the age of +60. But I made a reservation on the web in advance, so I had to pay the reservation fee. If you see enough seats, I think it's better to go directly to the cinema and buy a ticket.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families treating older children or teens to a special occasion cinema experience. The intimate theatres and licensed bar make it a genuine night-out venue rather than a casual multiplex visit. Air conditioning reliability varies by auditorium β worth flagging at the box office for daytime summer sessions.

βWatched Hamnet (exclusive early access, we watched it on 7th December and it doesnβt come out until January I believe) with my partner tonight and thought this place was a bit of a joke if Iβm honest. $72+ for 2 tickets. Yes you heard that right. We didnβt even have recliner chairs, or proper cup holders (there was little flat surface table things at each side of the chair). The chairs were small and uncomfortable, I havenβt got the biggest of thighs and they were constantly pressing in to the βcup holdersβ, and the holder in the middle was broken and kept sagging down so was unusable. The chairs were extremely upright, not comfortable at all. If you are paying that kind of money for standard tickets you at least expect to be comfy. There was a complimentary drink as you went in to the screen, but I wouldnβt really call it complimentary when the tickets are that expensive. My parter also did not want any of the drinks as she did not like the three that were available. The popcorn was pretty nice, but was pretty expensive as well. Their combo for a large soft drink and large popcorn was $24. So for 2 tickets, and 2 large combos you are talking $120 to go watch a movie in uncomfortable seats, with a average at best screen and audio experience. There was no toilet paper in the womanβs bathroom, in multiple of stalls, and basically no soap either. I recommend saving a few dollars, and book a cinema with good comfy seats that can recline. You could likely book a really good luxurious cinema for cheaper.β

βSpent over $100 including snacks. Seats are worn and covered in rips. Our seats were also littered with trash (finished popcorn containers and drinks). Staff member informed me that they only sometimes manage to clean the cinemas between showings. This is ridiculous management. Warning - please go elsewhere.β
