1 / 2Penrith Skatel
📍 Emu Plains, NSW
Penrith Skatel in Emu Plains is one of Sydney's last roller skating rinks, operating for over 20 years. Sessions feature fun games, music, and skate hire. Many families have a multi-generational connection to the venue.
I used to come here every single weekend as a kid! I absolutely loved it, so many fun heartwarming memories. I’ve been to so many birthday parties and a few of my own. The games were always so much fun!!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 6 and up who want a genuine, retro skating experience rather than a modern entertainment complex. The community feel — built over decades of regular skaters — is unlike anything at a newer venue. First-time skaters are actively helped by staff, making it accessible for beginners.

“My youngest attended a party there last weekend - they had a great time. Though he had not skated before, there was friendly staff helping him - a great way to spend the afternoon.”

Overview
Penrith Skatel holds a rare place in Sydney's recreational landscape as the city's last surviving roller skating rink. Families whose parents skated here as children now bring their own kids to the same floor. Sessions run with music, in-rink games, and both skate and blade hire on site. Staff are described as having old-fashioned hospitality by long-term regulars. Beginners receive hands-on assistance. Some visitors have reported unpleasant interactions with a specific staff member.
