This is my favourite place 2 catch the puffing billy with the kids. Picnic in the park while the little ones run off the 'extra steam' in the playground or grab a 5* coffee & baked delight from the Belgrave bakery down the road. Either way an icecream from the specialty🍦 shop is the best way to finish off a great day out. Absolutely love this place!

Best for families combining a Puffing Billy train ride with outdoor play — kids burn energy on the equipment as parents use the BBQ or picnic tables. Toddlers through primary-school age all find enough to do. Bring sunscreen as the space is open and exposed on hot days.

“Grew up near here and was saddened by the sign outside saying it was a temporary place. But lo and behold it still lives :D still love playing here although I'm far too big. Good picnic tables around, though not as many as some years ago. What I like best however is the fact that the playground itself has mostly been left as it was when I was a kid.”

“A great park for kids! On top of the playground, there is bbq, picnic area, gazebo and toilet too! Nice to stay and sit under the tree whilst watching the kids play.”

“This is a great little park to take the kids. We were there on a Sunday & a dinosaur puppeteer had been organised to walk around Emerald which the kids loved. The park isn't the biggest or greatest but has enough climbing areas, a couple of slides as well as swings to keep the kids amused for a while. It's quite open so if it's sunny remember the sunscreen. And there are public toilets right next door.”

Overview
Set beside the Puffing Billy Railway station in Emerald, this open reserve playground includes climbing equipment, dual slides, swings, BBQ stations, picnic tables, a gazebo, and toilets. The parkland is partially fenced with shady trees and plenty of grass for running. Most of the original playground equipment has been retained over the decades. Across the road sits an ice cream shop, and the Belgrave bakery is a short drive away.
