An awesome experience! My daughter loved it. Free-roaming kangaroos, wallabies, and an opportunity to hold a koala (only legal in QLD). Tony was excellent navigating us via amphibious vehicle throughout the forest. Did you know these were invented and built by WOMEN and are still in working condition 80 years later? We saw the thing we were most terrified of - gympie-gympie. So terrible the name translates to "bad bad." The pamagirri aboriginal experience is also not to be missed. We brought home a boomerang after we learned we were terrible at throwing them, but the connection to this area was great to see. Lunch was fabulous, and we wrapped up our visit with some of their ice cream on the way out.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families seeking Australian wildlife and Indigenous cultural content in a single location. The Army Duck tours are the centrepiece — book early as tour groups take the majority of available spots. Children who engage with hands-on wildlife interactions respond strongly to the free-roaming kangaroos and koala sessions.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Book Army Duck tours and koala photo sessions well in advance — tour groups fill available slots quickly
Expect rain and dress accordingly — much of the wildlife park has covered sections, Army Duck tours continue outdoors
🎟️Stay on marked paths throughout — dangerous plants including gympie-gympie grow in the rainforest
🚗Try the boomerang throwing in the Aboriginal experience — guides correct technique and it keeps children engaged

We did the Koala and Wildlife Park and the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience, but wee unable to get tickets for the Army Duck Tour as we booked fairly last minute and there were a lot of tour groups present. The Wildlife Park was small but nice, and the combination of activities made for a great day out. The Panagirri Aboriginal Experience included demonstrations of didgeridoo playing, spear throwing and some dances, as well as getting a chance to throw a boomerang. All guides were very nice and explained what they were doing, but a bit more history and explanation of why would have been interesting. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area!!

An absolutely wonderful, gorgeous place. You could see lots of animals there in their natural habitat and get on a tour on an army amphibious vehicle that rides and floats. That was quite an experience! Sometimes we were very cautious when were told about plants that could bite and that pain would stay for weeks, but fortunately, they were pretty far in the rain forest -) The territory is huge and one could quite easily spend a day over there. There is always something to do, something to see, something to learn. Absolutely great place!

Was quite a wet day when we went, but that’s to be expected! Much of the wildlife park was covered and we got to watch a demonstration with a massive crocodile! Lots of cool animals, my favorite were the Tasmanian devils. We rode in the army duck through the rainforest and our guide was a wealth of information! He identified tons of plants and was a lot of fun.
