Scenic World is a great way to spend a full day in the Blue Mountains. Located not far from Katoombaβ€˜s centre, the park can be reached by car, by bus or even by foot. We visited the park on a Saturday morning, so the waiting times were probably a bit longer than on a weekday. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our day here and took all the rides (roughly a 5-20 min wait). Throughout the day, we observed the queues becoming longer and longer, so Iβ€˜d recommend coming early. I booked the tickets online in advance. I would recommend to do it this way, as Iβ€˜m pretty sure you are asked to book the tickets on a computer there anyway if you donβ€˜t have any yet. The rides and the views were phenomenal! I really enjoyed that the park can function as a base from where you can go on walks or hikes, as many public hikes link up to those from Scenic World. I would also recommend to not miss the boardwalk in the valley. The wildlife we were able to observe was so unique and the green and wild landscape almost made us think we were stepping into prehistoric times.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

The strongest full-day outdoor experience in the Blue Mountains for families with children aged 3 and up. Each of the four rides delivers a different sensory experience, and the rainforest walk engages kids who need to move between rides. Toddlers under 3 enter free. The valley stays noticeably cooler than the plateau on hot days.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Book tickets online to skip the computer queue on arrival β€” particularly important on weekends
⏰Target the Railway as your first ride before crowds build
🎟️Sit near the front of the Railway for the steepest angle experience
πŸš—The valley floor is reliably cooler than Katoomba township β€” light layers useful even in summer

β€œWe had the best time at Dinosaur Scenic World with our kids. It was such a fun and exciting experience for the whole family. The kids absolutely loved walking through the forest and finding the dinosaurs hidden along the way. It felt like a real adventure and kept them engaged the entire time. The rails were so much fun and added an extra level of excitement, and the walk back was easy, enjoyable, and perfect for families with children. Everything was well organised, family friendly, and made it easy to relax and just enjoy the experience together. This was a fantastic day out and a big hit with both the kids and the parents. We would definitely recommend it to families looking for a fun, memorable, and interactive experience. Five stars from us.”

β€œGreat day out! Highly recommend. The staff were all lovely, and the dinosaurs were really cool. I didn't think we would spend as much time as we did there and would go back again without hesitation. The mountains were beautiful and even with the hot weather, the valley is nice and cool. The walk was easy for 3yo and 6yo, probably would rethink it if I had smaller ones in prams though. Even with a pretty busy day, there was only a little waiting for most of the attractions.”

β€œGreat experience with the cable car, train and sky way showing different views and experiences. With no queues and a bit of walking can easily do all 3 in 1.5 hours. Also lots of walking routes arounds with plenty of viewing points of the blue mountains. Good price and friendly staff. Highly recommend.”

Overview

Scenic World packages four distinct experiences into one ticket: the Scenic Railway descends at up to 52 degrees into Jamison Valley, the Cableway offers a more gradual descent with panoramic views, the Skyway crosses above the valley floor with glass floor panels, and the elevated Walkway threads through ancient temperate rainforest. The dinosaur forest walk follows the Walkway route. A Buunyal Indigenous cultural tour and Beyond Skyway rooftop experience are bookable add-ons.
