1 / 3SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium
π Mooloolaba, QLD
Mooloolaba aquarium featuring an 80-metre walk-through ocean tunnel with sharks and rays, a resident colony of Little Blue Penguins, tidal touchpools, jellyfish displays, and optional seal swim experiences for close animal contact.
Iβm not a big fan of sea creatures but itβs still the top tourist attraction on the Sunshine Coast that everyone would visit. Ticket costs $50 per adult and $40 per student on public holiday. Itβs sort of crowded and busy because today is Australian Day and a lot of parents are taking their children here. When I first walked into the aquarium, it feels kinda dull because there were only ordinary creatures like seahorses and some fish but some of the decorative corals stands out quite a bit. The baby penguin area has an odour but it seems like the kids are having fun with them, but the colourful fish across from the penguin area is so underrated. The exhibited shark with mouth opened wide is so cool but I canβt tell if itβs real or not, maybe artificial I guess. Shark teeth are also iconic to take a picture of. Moreover, I can genuinely tell why the aquarium is so popular that even people from Brisbane drive all the way just to see the shark swimming around because itβs my favourite section. Sometimes you can even see divers trying to feed the sharks inside the chamber. On the other hand, the stingrays look so cool and underrated whenever they are going above your head. The seal show took place around 10:30 in the morning, which looked fun, but I only went past, took a photo, and didnβt watch the entire show. However, the souvenir shop is filled with all kinds of items including Spongebob plushies and thereβs a cafeteria after exiting the souvenir shop. Afterwards, youβll enter the jellyfish zone not only with colour changing jellyfish but also Nemo from Finding Nemo. Overall, I had a lot of fun in the aquarium and the air conditioning is cool enough to prevent me from sweating.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children of all ages who want close encounters with marine life rather than passive viewing. The seal swim experience is exceptional for older children and adults. Visit on weekdays or outside public holidays for manageable crowd levels β Australian Day and school holidays push the venue to capacity.

βThe βSeal Swimβ is truely an incredible experience. I had a grin on my face almost the entire time. What an amazing opportunity to interact with these playful, magnificent creatures. I brought my partner along too and it was such a great date idea!.. Aside from the seals, we were obsessed with the beautiful enclosures, the shark tunnel, and all the fun facts about sea animals along the way.. our family dinner that followed was filled with us spitting random Sea Life animal facts from our experience. Thank you very much ππ½β

βMy husband and I had such a lovely time at Sea Life Sunshine Coast! The place was amazing, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. Itβs a great place to visit for both adults and kids. Definitely one of the highlights of the Sunny Coast and would definitely visit again ππ β¨β

βWe absolutely loved it. This was our third visit. We love this place. My favourite part is the jellyfish area and the glass tunnel with all the beautiful sea creatures. Our little one couldn't stop singing baby shark whilst passing through the tunnel with sharks and stingrays. We will definitely be back.β
