📍 Doncaster, VIC
Multi-screen cinema in Westfield Doncaster with Gold Class luxury seating, VMAX large-format screens, and standard cinemas. Lift access throughout and free parking available within the complex.
I went to see a movie in Cinema 3 at Village Cinemas Westfield Doncaster (Melbourne). Unfortunately, my experience was not very good. The VIP section had an unpleasant smell, which was noticeable and distracting. The seats were also noisy — whenever someone adjusted their position, the seats made squeaking sounds that disturbed the audience during the movie. Regarding the sound system, I’m not sure whether it was 5.1, 7.1, or Dolby Atmos, but there was definitely an issue with the audio setup. I was sitting in one of the back rows, and the speakers that should have created surround sound from behind seemed incorrectly positioned toward the front. Even during action scenes, most of the sound felt like it was coming from the front only. The surround effect was very weak, and overall the sound system did not create an immersive experience. In comparison, my experience at Village Cinemas Glen Waverley was much better. Overall, this visit did not meet my expectations.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families who plan ahead — book tickets and skip the food service to avoid long waits. Gold Class seating is comfortable for extended sessions with teens. VMAX delivers a solid large-format experience for action and event films. Westfield Doncaster's dining options make a meal before the film a better choice than in-cinema food service.

“The venue great but the service not so great. Ordered food for 6:15pm and at 6:45pm pressed buzzer as no food had arrived. No one came to us so after 15 minutes went out to foyer to find a staff member. Part of our food ordered arrived 7:30pm and at 8:15pm I was back out in foyer asking where the rest was. When we left the cinema we spoke to the Manager (not Manager material) as asked for a credit back to our card for food we didn’t receive, which we got after him fumbling around. I believe understaffed and poorly trained. They simply had no idea what had gone wrong.”

“Waited for 20 minutes to spend $27 on popcorn and a drink. We then went up stairs to the cinema, there was no one to check tickets or help with directions. After walking the hall, we found our cinema and seats from the online tickets. The seats are old and very uncomfortable. The cinema feels dirty. The surround sound didn't work properly with the sound heavy to the front speakers and the base was too soft. The aircon was up too high, so my son had to be cuddled to stay warm. The one plus was that the picture on the screen was sharp and there were no blurry images in fast moving scense. We won't be back again until.they rennovate”

“It's not worth chancing a visit anymore. Especially for the money you pay. Unless you have a no kids policy for gold class I wouldn't subject myself to that again. Most kids can't sit still and I dont blame them; some parents over estimate their kids attention span and manners. At the end of the day youre in a public place watching a big tv, and as much as I wanted to belt the kids next to me, I had to remind myself that they're just kids and the parents that drag these kids to movies they dont even want to watch, are the ones that need a spanking.”
