wonguim wilam Playspace
📍 Warrandyte, VIC
Council-built nature playspace in Warrandyte celebrating Indigenous heritage. Features two timber treehouse structures with slides, rope climbing, and a sandpit, set among native bushland beside the Yarra River.
Brand new play space in a beautiful, native setting. Just reopened on Friday. Now has two timber tree house structures with slides (one is an enclosed tunnel) and lots of rope climbing. One very high and one lower, for smaller kids, note that all climbing activities may be difficult for some kids under 4. There is also a water play feature, swings, spinner, rope carousel and trampolines. Great space with lots of seating, an undercover area with BBQs and the Warrandyte cafes and shops just a walk away up the to the road. The play area is fenced (except the steps up to the bakery and near the BBQs), but the river walk is a few steps the other direction and is always a lovely activity any day.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids aged 3-10 who enjoy unstructured outdoor play in a natural setting. The lower treehouse suits younger children, the upper rope structure challenges older kids. Families who want a quiet riverside escape from standard playgrounds will get the most from this spot.

“Still can’t get over how peaceful and beautiful this spot is. The gentle flow of the river, ducks gliding across the water, and tall trees all around made it feel like a hidden retreat. Loved the walking trails and the whole nature vibe—perfect for a reset. The playspace is also amazing for families. Definitely coming back!”

“Fun playground for little kids, whilst many things like the slide are metal there is a decent amount of shade so it's still well worth a play (and the bakery being just up the stairs is Gold!).”

Overview
Wonguim Wilam Playspace sits in Warrandyte's native bushland beside the Yarra River, managed by Manningham Council. Two timber treehouse structures — one with an enclosed tunnel slide, one lower for smaller kids — anchor the play area, with extensive rope climbing throughout. A bakery sits just up the stairs from the playground. Ducks, walking trails, and riverside views make this a full outing rather than just a play stop.
