World's Largest Indoor Scrap Metartworld-Metal Art Gallery(Guinness World Record Holder) Starry Sky Exhibition/VR Theme Park
π Port Melbourne, VIC
Metartworld in Port Melbourne holds the Guinness World Record for the world largest indoor scrap metal art gallery.
We visited MetArt World during a short family trip to Melbourne, and it quickly became one of the highlights of our tour. I was initially a bit sceptical when we stepped inside, but that feeling disappeared almost instantly. The craftsmanship and creativity behind the sculptures crafted entirely from scrap metal were truly mind-blowing. The level of detail in each character was incredibly precise, showcasing exceptional skill and imagination. Another standout feature was the Starry Sky Exhibition, an immersive space that transports you into a completely different dimension. Surrounded by mirrors and captivating light effects, the room creates a magical, otherworldly atmosphere that both adults and kids will love. One thing to note is that the exhibition area is not wheelchair or stroller accessible, as it is located on the first floor. Parents with small children will need to carry them to the upper level. The 9D cinema, while a fun addition, was fairly average. The movie we watched, the dinosaur-themed one, lacked strong visual quality, but it still added some entertainment for the kids. Overall, we spent a delightful two hours exploring MetArt World, and it offered a unique experience that stands out from typical attractions around Melbourne. Parking was stress-free, with free 2P spaces available nearby. I highly recommend MetArt World to anyone visiting the Melbourne CBD. It is an inspiring and memorable experience for families and art lovers alike.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 6 and up, particularly those with an interest in pop culture, comic books, or mechanical creativity. The interactive format means kids can engage physically rather than just observe. The VR and games area adds replay value. Adults consistently report enjoying it as much as children.

βCame here with my boyfriend on New Yearβs Day for a casual date. At first, I thought it was just metal sculptures and felt a bit unsure. But once we looked closer, we realised all the artworks are made from real scrap metal parts like engines and mechanical pieces β actually pretty cool. Itβs not a traditional art gallery, but itβs fun and different. The mirror maze was way harder than we expected π We tried it twice and still got lost. The 9D cinema line was super long so we skipped it, but we did play a VR game with flipping seats and it was much more exciting than I thought. The staff were super friendly and even helped us store our bags, which made the experience feel really comfortable. Overall, a really good experience and a fun way to spend the day.β

βSecond time visiting this incredible place. A lot of time and money has gone into creating this. The hundreds of metal art are so beautiful and mind blowing, and the bonus is you can interact with everything and become a part of the sculptures/photo ops. But thereβs also more to this place than the art. There is a gorgeous mirror maze with a number of rooms decorated with more mirrors and so many beautiful lights, lots of fun for the kids. Then they have the VR section where you can immerse in the VR world. Highly recommend. Iβm sure my son will request to come back here a third time.β

Overview
Every sculpture at Metartworld is constructed from real scrap metal β engines, mechanical parts, and industrial components assembled into figures spanning comic book characters, film icons, and original works. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the pieces and use them as photo opportunities. A separate starry sky exhibition provides a contrast to the industrial aesthetic. The VR zone and electronic games area extend the visit beyond viewing.
