Hartβs Mill Playground is a fantastic spot for families, offering a safe and fully fenced area with plenty of activities for kids of all ages. Thereβs a great mix of equipment, from a toddler-friendly sandpit to exciting features for older children like a flying fox, rope climb, hamster wheel, and a steep metal slide. The playground has a combination of hard ground and sand, with ample grass and seating around. Inside the fenced area, there are a few benches, while picnic tables and BBQ facilities are available just outside. A lovely touch is the free library box, perfect for those who prefer a quiet moment with a book. A coffee shop is conveniently close by, but a downside is the lack of nearby public toilets. Also, due to its location, it can get quite windy at times. Parking is available, making access easy for families. Overall, itβs a great place for a fun day out with kids.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children of mixed ages, from toddler sandpit users to older kids who can tackle the flying fox and hamster wheels. The full fence makes supervision straightforward. Windy conditions are common at this riverside site, so pack a jacket. Toilets require a short walk β plan accordingly.

βThere is an awesome children's playground, the Hart's Mill Playground, just at the corner of the beautiful Port Adelaide River. They have a funny hamster wheel and two spinners that I have never seen in Australia. Plus the slide, zipping flying, spinning wheel, climbing frame, swings and an interactive sand station etc. If you come to visit Port Adelaide with your little kids, this playground is definitely a must-visit. Your little children must love it a lot and can easily spend 2 hours here. There are BBQ stoves and covered seating bench with tables just next to the playground. A public toilet is available at the end of Mundy St., which is just 2 minutes walk from the playground.β

βI like that it is fully fenced in. Offers toddler sand pit playground equipment and also equipment for the bigger kids - flying fox, rope climb, hamster wheel, and a very steep metal slide. It has a few seating benches within fenced area and picnic tables outside of the fenced area with bbq facility. Ample lawn surrounding the playground. Also has a free library box with books for the ones that just want to sit and read. No nearby public toilets. Can get very windy due to location.β

Overview
Hart's Mill Playground sits beside the Port Adelaide River with a secure perimeter fence enclosing a diverse equipment range: hamster wheels, flying fox, spinning wheels, climbing frames with rope ladders, and a toddler sandpit. BBQ and picnic tables are outside the fenced area. Public toilets are a two-minute walk on Mundy Street. The riverside location can be windy β bring extra layers.
