1 / 3Laneway Boulders
📍 Stepney, SA
Intimate bouldering gym in Stepney with 100+ climbing problems across varied wall angles including slab and overhang. Features a Tension Board 2, weights and fitness area, local coffee, and routes refreshed by guest setters. Ages 8 and up.
Awesome new bouldering gym! There's a lot of variety in terms of both walls and holds -- I went with the 2 week starter pack so I'm already looking forward to the next visit!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children 8+ who want a technically challenging bouldering environment with genuine community warmth. The outdoor-style route setting suits children who have tried climbing before and want variety. Complete beginners may find the route grades lean hard — the two-week starter pack is the low-risk way to assess fit.

“One of my favourite things about Laneway is walking into the gym and hearing 'Hey Stevie, how are you, thanks for coming in' from the staff/owners. They are so friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience so much more enjoyable. The climbs are fun, i love the different types of holds they have and different setting compared to other gyms in the area. I also really like the space upstairs, there is actual free/open space for stretching by the massive windows, so I don't feel like I am in the way of the equipment or walkways. Really love this place, thanks for opening!”

“Beautiful space with really nice wall angles. Good selection of holds that lean towards a different style of setting than the other gyms. More outdoorsy style of climbing IMO with more crimps. Good coffee and a clean TB2 to train on with all you need for weights upstairs. Very very friendly atmosphere for any level of experience. Feels cosy and intimate, with attentive and caring staff. And not in the annoying retail, “no thanks I’m just looking” way. You know what I mean. If gyms had weight classes, this would be the welterweight champion 🥊🥊”

“An excellent addition to the bouldering scene in Adelaide!! With lovely staff, an excellent wholesome vibe and a lovely Tension Board 2 it’s a must see if you’re keen on climbing. The feel of the boulders are also continually changing with a large amount of guest setters keeping things fresh in their own style. It’s likely that if you visit at minimum once a month the whole gym will have a completely different feel compared to when you last went. It’s an excellent way to stay psyched!!”

Overview
Laneway Boulders opened in Adelaide's Stepney suburb with over 100 bouldering problems designed with an outdoor climbing aesthetic — more crimps and technical sequences than typical indoor gyms. The upstairs area has a Tension Board 2, weights, and stretching space with large windows. Local coffee is served. Guest setters rotate regularly to keep routes fresh. Staff greet returning climbers by name — that personal touch is mentioned unprompted across multiple reviews.
