What a wonderful place! I can't believe I haven't visited before in all the years I've lived in Melton, how lucky we got to see the swans babies đŸĻ†đŸĻ†đŸĻ† So precious! The park and gardens are so well maintained, there's people enjoying the walking paths which are well kept, and there's volunteers visibly on-site and they're VERY friendly and helpful. It's a a beautiful environment, the sounds of nature and wildlife in their habitat. The playground and seating areas are also well kept and fit in well with the botanical gardens. Keep up the awesome work 👍đŸŧ

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families who want a peaceful nature outing that combines a garden walk with practical facilities. The lake and birds provide natural interest for younger children, the arboretum is genuinely educational for older kids who ask questions, and the covered BBQ areas handle a full family afternoon comfortably.

“We absolutely love this place, beautiful walking tracks, under cover barbecue areas with tables and chairs. Native birds and swans. There were people fishing along the lake, but I'm not sure if they caught anything. A creative natural play ground, with equipment for yonger kids. Toilets and drink taps on site. Lots of park benches to sit and take in nature. Very family friendly. Dogs allowed on a lead. Only downside is the noise from the western freeway, which the gardens back onto. Very small car park. Other than that we really love coming here.”

“They have replicated soil conditions from different regions in Australia and around the world, and have managed to grow plants from those regions. This is not easy, but they manage to do it, which goes to show how knowledgeable and dedicated they are. Here, banksias and eucalypts are a highlight. If you take your time, you can appreciate just how many varieties of eucalypts there are - scrunch up their leaves and reward your olfactory senses on an afternoon walk; and count how many species of birds you can spot.”

“A nice place in Melton. A lot of diverse plants and bushes. The lake is beautiful. Some work still in progress. An area with Australian fruits can be a good addition which will produce food for birds and animals of this garden. Tracks are well maintained but there are garbages and dumps near the border with freeways which should be cleaned and better watched.”

Volunteers have recreated soil conditions from different Australian regions and internationally, allowing banksias, eucalypts, and non-native species to grow side by side. The lake hosts swans and native birds, and walking tracks around the water are well-maintained. A natural playground with equipment for younger children sits within the grounds. Covered BBQ areas with tables, chairs, and power points are available for picnics.
