1 / 3Oakleigh Recreational Centre
๐ Oakleigh, VIC
Redeveloped indoor recreation centre in Oakleigh with jumping boards, special needs swimming programs, learn-to-swim, gym, and group fitness. Part of Active Monash with pram access and toddler-friendly facilities.
Great place! Have been looking for a place that does swimming lessons for kids with special needs & they have a separate program. The outdoor pools are fantastic you have everything from jumping boards(rare these days) standard big pool, little pool with great disabled access & even a little impressive shaded pool/splash pad area even a little pirate ship play equipment!
๐ Family Action Verdict
Families with children of all abilities benefit most here โ the dedicated special needs swimming program is a genuine differentiator. Confident swimmers aged 7+ will gravitate toward the jumping boards. The gym and group fitness classes make it a full family destination rather than a swim-only visit.

โGreat Centre to train at, very clean change rooms. The new equipment in the gym is great. I love the group fitness sessions, especially the Strong Class and Thursday night HiiT class, all well run with great Trainers who will offer exercise modifications when needed and exercise technique. The outdoor pool over the summer months is fabulous.โ

โNice clean gym with new equipment. Offers lots of classes and a pool as well. Staff are always so lovely, itโs a very welcoming place to train. Staff are always happy to help with any questions in the gym. Big shoutout to Thomas and Niall for their customer service at the front desk.โ

โI've never been so disappointed by an outdoor swimming pool. Maybe my standards from Germany are just too high, but what they're doing here is simply embarrassing. The price of $2 is cheap, but you can't expect more for what's offered. We drove 1.5 hours here specifically because we saw on Google that there was a 10-meter diving platform, but when we arrived, we were told we had to pass a swimming test to be allowed to use the platform. When we tried to take the test, however, they told us it was no longer possible because they were short-staffed. The staff themselves weren't exactly friendly either. When we then wanted to swim a few laps and stopped briefly in the lane to catch our breath, we were immediately snapped at for not being allowed to stop in the lane, even though we weren't obstructing any other swimmers in any way. So, a clear recommendation: don't visit this pool!!! ๐กโ
