Williamstown Botanic Gardens
π Williamstown, VIC
Heritage gardens in central Williamstown with mature plantings, a Strawberry tree, rows of palms, extensive benches, BBQ areas, and clean toilet facilities. Located across from the beach for an easy combined foreshore outing.
Great spot! A beautiful open space close to the water, perfect for families and friends to relax and spend quality time together. There are BBQ areas and clean toilet facilities available, which makes it convenient for longer visits. Kids have plenty of space to run around and play safely. Iβve also seen people doing exercise and yoga here, which creates a positive and motivating atmosphere. The beach is right there as well, so you can go for a swim if youβre in the mood. Overall, itβs a peaceful and well-maintained place to unwind, enjoy nature, and have a great day out.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with young children looking for a calm, low-key outing that pairs naturally with the Williamstown waterfront. The flat paths are pram-friendly and the open lawn areas give kids space to roam. The botanical setting rewards families who want something quieter than a busy playground.

βA garden to appreciate all the greenery in your surroundings. Sit on the grass bed to appreciate nature or simply to rest. There are so many benches at different points of the garden which i think is a very good idea. I came across a Strawberry tree which has an amazing smell to remember. The best part was the cool breeze coming from the nearby beach. It felt like an air-conditioner in the summer heat and made the visit cooler! Speaking of heat, I felt awful for the trees which almost burned and no drinking water for the birds. I hope it rains soon to replenish them.β

βI recently visited this garden on Australia Day for a picnic lunch, and it was absolutely delightful. The garden was beautifully maintained, making it a perfect spot for a peaceful day out. The serenity and tranquility of the place were truly refreshing. The picnic area was spacious and provided a perfect setting for a relaxed meal. I highly recommend this garden for anyone looking for a peaceful and well-maintained outdoor space. It is pet friendly too, so dont forget to take your fur baby along.β

βWilliamstown Botanic Gardens is filled with beautiful plants β such a lovely and peaceful spot! The row of palm trees adds a tropical charm to the scenery. Itβs located just across from the beach, an easy walk along the waterfront. This place wasnβt too crowded on the weekend. There were people having picnics, walking their dogs, chatting, and even some tour groups enjoying the space together. Itβs incredibly close to the sea and perfect for photography, relaxing, or simply clearing our mind.β
