1 / 3Cineplex South Bank
📍 South Brisbane, QLD
Affordable cinema in South Bank featuring laser projection and Cinema 5 — Queensland's largest screen, the former IMAX — plus a snack bar and validated free parking for movie-goers.
Brilliant theatre, central to Southbank. Cheap as chips tickets (really- eg $12 for an adult) including the snack bar. Free parking if you see a movie. Cinema 5 is the old IMAX screen so it is the largest in all of QLD. 5 stars.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families who prioritise savings and a big-screen experience over premium amenities. Cinema 5's screen size is a genuine differentiator for blockbuster releases. Families who need clean, well-maintained spaces may find the ageing facilities a drawback. The South Bank location makes it easy to pair with nearby attractions before or after.

“In an era when ut seems that prices are stratospheric, it is good to know that there are still places you can take your family for an outing that will not break the bank. Consider Cineplexx South Bank for your next movie outing. Is the theater new? No. The seats are not plush and some of the surfaces are worn. For a big guy like me, there weren't even that comfortable. But for a $10 ticket plus free parking (4 hours), my minor discomfort was not a huge ask. Additionally, we were able to get a large popcorn and two extra large drinks for only $15! And did I mention the ginormous screen? That is worth two huge thumbs up in my book. You can avoid the rush by purchasing your tickets on line and retrieve them at one of several kiosks when you arrive at the theater. If you catch an early show, there are tons of restaurants and other attractions available at South Bank to entertain your crew or to satisfy your cravings. Catching a flick and saving dough is an awesome combination!”

“Unfortunately the disabled toilet on ground level only has a UV light installed so my visually impaired client who has multiple disabilities, had some difficulty using this bathroom. If people are going to use needles, they can do it in any bathroom, so I don't see why people with disabilities have to go without a normal light in the toilet. I asked the staff and they advised that the manager only wants that light used in that bathroom.”

“Good grief. You'd think that going to the movies in Brissy city would be classy and clean. No. I'd give 5 stars for service. Excellent service. Friendly staff. But as for the cleanliness of this cinema. It was gross. Cleanliness Is not just for customers, staff should have a clean environment to work in. There was a mildew smell walking in, like the carpet has had so much spilled drinks. the carpets have not been carpet cleaned for.. I dunno years I'm guessing, my husband used to work in the carpet cleaning industry and he was shocked at the state of this cinema, the counter was sticky, the walkway into the cinema room, I saw panties on the ground ... Sat in the leather chairs and it was sticky.... Not clean. Popcorn everywhere. The toilets were disgusting. This was on a Sunday afternoon.”
